Review: Tandoori Shrimp at the Namaste Cafe Disney Food Truck

Funny how quickly things can change ‘round these parts…

Not all that long ago (a little more than a year-and-a-half, to be specific), the four Disney Food Trucks were THE newest thing on the dining scene in Downtown Disney. But with all the dining additions to the ever-transforming, will-one-of-these-days-be Disney Springs over the past year, it’s been a while since we’ve had a chance to check out what’s changed at the Trucks!

So our stop today is Namaste Cafe (most often found in Exposition Park on the West Side), the truck inspired by dishes typically served at Animal Kingdom as well as Animal Kingdom Lodge.

The menu continues to feature the Naan and Samosa Dipping Safari, Butter Chicken, and Lamb Kefta (a version of which was originally part of the Superstar Catering Food Truck menu inspired by Hollywood Studios, but I think it’s a more natural fit at Namaste).

What’s New Around Walt Disney World: March 26th, 2015

I’m not sure what it feels like in your neck of the woods, but the calendar says it’s officially SPRING! And the season is ON at Walt Disney World, with new food items to help feed those spring break crowds (did somebody say “Grilled Cheese”?), as well as an egg-stra special Easter display at the Grand Floridian Resort.

But that’s not all! There’s much more in store… so let’s hop to it, as we take another trip around the World to see What’s New!

Well, in case you didn’t know about the Advance Dining Reservations heard ‘round the World, the popular restaurant is now open for BREAKFAST! Huge hits on the all-new prix fixe menu include the Open-Face Bacon and Egg Sandwich and the Croissant Doughnut.

Not sure how long this gem will be around, but the Cinderella Coach Apple celebrating the recently released live-action “Cinderella” film sure is a beauty!

You can find it for a limited time at the Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats. (Keep an eye out at spots outside of Magic Kingdom like Goofy’s Candy Company and Sweet Spells, too!) A few of the Krispy Treats have joined in on the fun, as well…

Looking for your favorite Dole Whip or Citrus Swirl over in Adventureland?

Well, the homes for these beloved snacks have changed places. You see, Sunshine Tree Terrace — home of the Citrus Swirl — is now located where Aloha Isle used to be. And Aloha Isle, boasting its signature Dole Whip? It’s now located where Sunshine Tree Terrace used to be.

Confused? Fret not — you can read all about it here! Rumor has it that this all has something to do with a new restaurant on the horizon for Adventureland. (And what’s this we’re hearing about a possible Jungle Cruise theme?!) Time will surely tell!

Speaking of location changes… If you’re hoping to enjoy a Jumbo Turkey Leg in Magic Kingdom, they’ll be available at Cool Ship in Tomorrowland starting TODAY.

Food is always the star of the show for Disney Food Fans, but there’s no time of year when food steals the spotlight quite like this… with a little something called the 2014 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival!

Review: New Samosas and Naan Dipping Safari at Namaste Café Food Truck in Downtown Disney

When the Namaste Café Food Truck made its debut in Downtown Disney’s West Side last November, we happily sampled the Butter Chicken (BUTTER CHICKEN!!!!!!!!!!), a favorite dish of ours from Sanaa.

The dishes at Namaste Café were chosen to reflect some of the best cuisine to be found in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and Animal Kingdom Lodge, and I remember thinking, “Cool… now, if only we could get a little of Sanaa’s fabulous bread service, we’d be set.”

But I didn’t really think it would happen. I just didn’t think the setting was conducive to it.

Well, apparently I was wrong, because IT HAS ARRIVED… kind of! Introducing, the Namaste Café Samosas and Naan Dipping Safari!!

Before we “dip in,” I should let you know where I found Namaste Café, because the Food Trucks are still moving all around Downtown Disney as they await their ultimate destination in the upcoming Food Truck Park. Character-inspired Treats

Magic Kingdom rang in the summer with the 24-Hour Rock Your Disney Side event. Several treats debuted that day, which were originally intended to be around just for those 24 hours; but a few made the cut to stick around a little longer, including these eye-catching Maleficent Krispy Treats and cake pops found in the Main Street Confectionery and Big Top Treats.

If you followed our coverage that day, you may have seen the Sunshine Tree Terrace’s Orange Bird join the candy apple ranks as well, but just in case you missed it, here he is!

The Refreshment Cool Post (found in the Africa Outpost as you stroll around World Showcase) is offering a few summer treats: Pineapple and Coconut Frozen Yogurt (served solo or swirled together) and a Mango Rum Smoothie featuring African Starr Rum. New! Chicken and Waffles at Fantasy Fare Food Truck in Disney World’s Downtown Disney

We’ve got all sorts of Disney Food Truck happenings going on this week!

With the debut of the all-new Trucks on the Town Event, along comes a new item to the Fantasy Fare Food Truck: Sticky Chicken and Waffles! I gave it a go on my recent trip to Disney World, and thought you might like a peek…

Each of the four Disney Food Trucks brings flavors from various Disney parks to Downtown Disney. The Fantasy Fare truck features Delightful Dishes from Magic Kingdoms Around the World!

Yep. Literally.

These “delightful dishes” include the Grilled Ham and Cheese (this is the Croque Monsieur, brought to us from Be Our Guest Restaurant), and the famed Hand-dipped Corn Dog from Disneyland (I grabbed that one, too; YUMMMMM!).

Sticky Chicken and Waffles is the most recent addition, replacing the Glass Noodle Salad (a noodle entrée with chicken and pickled vegetables from Hong Kong Disneyland, served cold). The Sticky Chicken and Waffles are inspired by the waffle sandwiches in Magic Kingdom’s Sleepy Hollow. Which. We. Love.

“Trucks on the Town” Food Truck Event Coming to Disney World’s Downtown Disney on June 21st!

If you’re going to be in Disney World on Saturday, June 21^st, you may want to make Downtown Disney a part of your evening itinerary…

Trucks on the Town, an all-new event featuring FOURTEEN food trucks, will be happening from 5 – 10 pm on Downtown Disney’s West Side on the lawn next to Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues!

All four Disney Food Trucks will be present: Superstar Catering, Namaste Café, Fantasy Fare, and World Showcase of Flavors (and there’s word of new items to appear alongside current choices such as the Hand-dipped Corn Dogs and pierogies!). Disney’s ESPN Wide World of Sports Truck will be there, too.

What’s New Around Disney World: April 19, 2014!

We’ve got updates this go ’round from several corners of Disney World, ranging from a few small menu changes to big construction projects. But we’re starting with something that is popping up all over no matter where in the World you are: Easter treats! Please join us for another trip to see What’s New!

From bunny ears to Easter Eggs, we’ve just got to give you a few glances at the Easter snacks popping (or hopping!) up absolutely everywhere around Disney World.

These particular goodies were spotted in the Main Street Confectionery, but similarly-themed sweets can be found through the Easter holiday at locations such as Big Top Treats, Sweet Spells, Goofy’s Candy Co. and the Candy Cauldron.

We can’t resist giving you one more look at one of the gorgeous chocolate eggs in the Annual Easter Egg Display at the Grand Floridian.

Everything’s coming up “Frozen” at Walt Disney World to celebrate the release of the movie on Blu-Ray and DVD.

Olaf the Snowman has been bestowed a true Disney character honor… He’s now a Candy Apple!

Keep an eye out for him in candy locations like Sweet Spells, Main Street Confectionery, Candy Cauldron, and Goofy’s Candy Company… I’m hoping he’s here for the long haul!

You may also spy some favorite treats in a blue hue for a very limited time, including Mickey Krispy Treats and Marshmallow Wands.

Downtown Disney

A recent walk around Downtown Disney revealed that the Disney Food Trucks are making their way around. Previously housed primarily between Cirque du Soleil and House of Blues (and occasionally spotted in the grassy area next to Bongos Cuban Cafe), the Food Trucks we’re spotted in new and different places around the West Side.

For instance, the World Showcase of Flavors truck was parked across from Splitsville.

And Fantasy Fare has been spotted over in the Marketplace (this is the spot next to World of Disney where Santa’s Chalet can be found during the holidays).

However, the one thing certain about the Food Trucks is that they are ever-changing 🙂 . And we know something new is coming thanks to these Food Truck Park signs found around Downtown Disney.

What’s to come? Only time will tell!

The first sure sign of spring at Disney World is the Flower & Garden Festival. But a smaller sign is seeing all the things available to stuff your Easter basket at Ghirardelli.

The Starbucks construction site on the Marketplace side is really starting to take shape. You can now see the triangular top peeking out above the walls, matching the “Coming Soon” artwork.

News! “Food Truck Park” Coming to Disney World’s Downtown Disney in Summer 2014

You’ve been watching us for months review the four new food trucks in Disney World’s Downtown Disney!

Disney stormed onto the trendy food truck scene as part of Downtown Disney’s makeover into Disney Springs, bringing World Showcase of Flavors, featuring goodies from the Epcot Food and Wine Festival and Epcot Flower and Garden Festival; Superstar Catering, bringing eats from Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Namaste Café, showcasing treats from Animal Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge; and Fantasy Fare, a bright red delight bringing menu items from Disney’s Magic Kingdoms all over the world (including hand-dipped corn dogs from Disneyland)!

For the first few months, the trucks were found in various spots around Downtown Disney — and even in the Parks during particularly busy holiday periods. We haven’t been able to find a definitive schedule or location for them, in fact!

But maybe that’s changing! We recently spotted this sign in Downtown Disney!
