The Grand Floridian Cafe in Walt Disney World’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa is known for its relatively understated decor (free of Disney characters and over-the-top styling) and its relaxing atmosphere. But there’s one thing here that’s not at all understated: the food!
Last fall, I shared the Lobster Thermidor and the Floridian Pancakes, both of which were fantastic, and just a couple of months ago we let you in on a little chicken-and-waffles hack.
The Disney Parks are always changing, and that means loads of Disney news! Every single day, we’re tracking Disney news (food and otherwise!) so we can bring you the latest. (If you join our DFB Newsletter, you’ll get all the newsy details FIRST!)
From price increases and ticket changes to transportation updates and new restaurants, the BIGGEST news stories from 2018 are going to seriously affect your upcoming trip in 2019! Read through to see what you NEED to know to make sure your visit next year goes smoothly!
When the announcement was made that Disney World’s tickets would go to a date-based pricing model, our readers had a lot of mixed reactions. On the positive side, readers said they were looking forward to seeing which dates would be lower and using that information to plan their trips. And if you’re a person who enjoys the growing complexity of planning a trip to WDW, we totally feel you on this!

Grabbing a quick bite to eat and enjoying the BoardWalk Inn and Villa‘s relaxing and eponymous boardwalk is a simple pleasure of a Walt Disney World vacation. And the BoardWalk Pizza Window has been a staple of the resort since the old days.
Sebastian’s Bistroopened at Walt Disney World’s Caribbean Beach Resort in October
— just in time to get in on the holiday action that’s taking over the World!
Sebastian’s will be serving up Thanksgiving lunch and dinner this year! Life is the bubbles — and the turkey, evidently!
Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort has been quite the center of attention this week! We’re bringing you one another first look from Old Port Royale: the newly renovated Calypso Trading Post!
Before the renovations, Calypso Trading Post was a bit outdated with bright contrasting colors and patterns. Check out Calypso Trading Post’s sleek new island-inspired look!
The decor is simple and rustic but still gives off a laid-back tropical vibe – LOVE the stacked crates and tall shuttered doors!
It’s officially fall — and you know what that means: pumpkin spice everything everywhere in Walt Disney World! 😉
And if you enjoy a beignet or two while you’re in the World, you’ll want to scoot yourself over to Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory in Disney World and Mint Julep Bar in Disneyland for Pumpkin Spice Mickey Beignets!
When we told you about the closure of Tambu Lounge in Walt Disney World’s Polynesian Village Resort way back in May of this year, lots of questions remained about where we could get our drink on in this tropical resort.
And thankfully, the answer was: kind of all over the place! The Polynesian opened two temporary bars on the second floor of the Great Ceremonial House in August, leaving guests with ample options.
We love a good Disney food hack — especially when it combines a duo of our favorite things. And today we’ve got a combo brought to us by Disney Food Blog reader Michael over at @DisneyNumNums! Join us at the Grand Floridian Cafe — and bring your stretchy pants!
Why? Because Michael tells us that if you start with the Grand Floridian Cafe’s Buttermilk Fried Chicken…
…you can end up with some killer Chicken and Waffles — with a Mickey Waffle, no less!
What, what?! In order to make this happen, all you have to do is request a waffle instead of the Crispy Potatoes, Kale, and Bacon that the chicken usually comes with!
You’ll get a choice between a Belgian Waffle and the Mickey Waffle — and you get to keep that Sriracha-Honey Drizzle (and get more on the side, if you want!)!
The server also brought hot maple syrup, butter, and ketchup — just in case you want to change things up a little! How fun is this?! Many thanks to Michael for sharing with us!
