Disney World rides seem to be shutting down for refurbishment left and right.
We want to make sure you are prepared for your upcoming vacation, so here’s a look at what attractions will be closed in December 2024.
A trip to Disney World may give you some of your favorite memories and be an overall incredible time, but that doesn’t mean it’s a flawless experience.
Don’t get us wrong, we LOVE visiting Disney World — obviously. The amazing attractions and experiences, beautiful hotels, and delicious eats along with all the nostalgia we feel each trip keep us coming back for more. However, even we can acknowledge that it’s not always sunshine and rainbows when visiting “The Most Magical Place On Earth”.
Another Disney World attraction will be temporarily closing SOON!
Disney closes rides and attractions from time to time for short periods so they can conduct refurbishments. These refurbishments are often for routine maintenance, but sometimes changes are also made. We keep track of the big closures happening around the parks, and there’s a NEW one you should know about if you’re planning a trip to Magic Kingdom in the coming month.
Disney World is about to be in a bit of a transformation.
New lands are coming to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, AND Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New Cars attractions will be available at Magic Kingdom, and an all-new show is headed to Hollywood Studios. And that’s not even everything! However, to make way for several of these new things, some classic attractions have had to close. For example, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed for good in Hollywood Studios on October 8th, but at least now we’re starting to see steps being taken for the new show to open!
With less than two months in 2024, you can basically count down the days until your 2025 Disney World trip!
With such little time left for all the preparations, we wanted to offer a helping hand! If you’re still trying to figure out which Disney World you want to book a stay at in 2025, you’ll want to know about the ones that you’ll want to stay clear of. Let’s dive right in!
Although we love it when Disney announces all the new experiences and attractions they’ll be bringing to their parks, it can be a pretty big bummer when we hear about permanent closures.
And starting in early January, permanent closures will be taking place over at Disney World. Here’s a look at some experiences that will be disappearing forever.
Since the 2020 closures, Disney World has been treating its water parks a little differently.
Before 2020, both water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, would be open at the same time throughout the summer, and then one would close in the winter for refurbishment. Nowadays, when one water park is open, the other is closed, and they switch out all year long, regardless of the season. As we’re headed into the winter season, it’s time for these two parks to swap out once again!
There are always new things coming to Disney World and old things being refurbished! Disney World is constantly changing, and that is part of what makes it magical, but it isn’t so magical when you don’t realize something is scheduled to be closed.
If you are heading to Disney World this week, there are a few closures you will want to know about. We don’t want to be caught by surprise when something you wanted to visit isn’t open.
We’ve been waiting for YEARS for Disney World to do SOMETHING with an abandoned building at Hollywood Studios.
The Voyage of the Little Mermaid closed with the rest of the parks during the COVID-19 pandemic, but it did not reopen when everything else became available again. Then, earlier in 2024, Disney announced that a new The Little Mermaid show would be taking its place in the fall of 2024. However, that timeline has now recently been changed! This show will continue to be closed with several other Disney World attractions this coming week.
Your 2025 trip to Disney World is almost here! (Can you believe it?)
As we were saying, with your trip right around the corner, you’ve really got no time to waste making all the preparations for the trip like what you’ll be packing, what you’ll be eating, and where you’ll be staying. Speaking of where you’ll stay, there are a couple of Disney World hotels that you’ll want to steer well clear of in 2025. Let’s go over them!
