Season’s Eatings!
While taking a stroll through Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort this week, we spotted a returning Holiday cupcake at Gasparilla Island Grill!
“There you see her, sitting there across the way. She don’t got a lot to say, but there’s something about her…”
That’s right — we’re talking about the new Little Mermaid CUPCAKE at Disney World!
Did somebody say Happy Hour?!
Wine, rosé, sangria — you name it, we’ll take a sip! Sprinkles is at it again with a new summer flavor, and we can’t wait to tell you about it.
Can’t decide between salty or sweet? Now you don’t have to!
Chocolate and salt and caramel, oh my! Located in the Town Center at Disney Springs in Disney World — and in Downtown Disney in Disneyland — Sprinkles is known for its scrumptious and unique flavor combinations. Surpassing its reputation, Sprinkles’ newest cupcake has the ability to satisfy just about every palette.

Say it ain’t so…
Actually, those are the same words that came to mind when Writer’s Stop — a unique little coffee and pastry shop that used to be open in Hollywood Studios — closed a few months ago to make way for construction of the future Toy Story and Star Wars lands.
Only this time, these words apply to yet another beloved pastry stop in Hollywood Studios: Starring Rolls Cafe, located on the intersection of Hollywood and Sunset Boulevards.
While Starring Rolls IS open today from 9:00 am – 3:00PM, we were told when we were in the shop recently that starting February 5th, 2017, the location will be shuttered.
Here are the details: Starring Rolls Cafe is, indeed, closed starting tomorrow, February 5th. The Cast Members — who will be moved to other locations — have not been informed as to whether or not the spot will reopen in the future.
Wow. While Writer’s Stop was known and loved primarily for one snack above all else, the Carrot Cake Cookie, but I don’t even know where to begin with Starring Rolls. How can I possibly narrow down from ALL the favorites that have come from Starring Rolls over the years? [Read more…]

Welcome back to the Contempo Cafe in Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
The last time we paid a visit to Contempo, we checked out a line-up of five new desserts that had hit the almost-famous Contempo Cafe bakery case. At the time, these included the Strawberry Blondie Banana Split, the Chocolate Chip Cookie Sandwich, the Cream Horn, the Swirl Cone Cupcake, and the Peanut Butter Pie.
Yes, that fabulous Peanut Butter Pie is still there (confession: my main motivation for stopping by more recently was to make sure that it indeed was)! In fact, the only one of the five that hasn’t remained on a longer-term basis is the Swirl Cone Cupcake. Of course, that’s not altogether unexpected, seeing as Contempo Cafe has a great reputation for changing up cupcakes quite often. Which is exactly why it’s fun to stop by… you never know what you might find.
This time, my search resulted in finding the Boston Cream Cupcake.
Taking inspiration from the famous Boston Cream Pie (which, in actuality, is a cake as opposed to a traditional pie), this yellow cupcake has a pastry cream filling and is topped with chocolate buttercream icing. The garnish is a chocolate ganache, with an added touch of white and dark chocolate swirls as a bit of decoration. [Read more…]

It’s time to CHOOSE YOUR SIDE… by choosing your cupcake! Star Wars Weekends have returned to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and that means that the Darth Vader Cupcake has made his return as well.
But this time, he’s got a little competition… introducing the Yoda Cupcake, new to Star Wars Weekends this year!
Before you can dig in, you’ve got to know where to find them. Fortunately, upon entering Hollywood Studios you can pick up a Star Wars Weekends Guide letting you know where to find everything from specialty snacks, to character greetings, to merchandise (as well as the general schedule for the weekend).
You’ll notice you can find the Darth Vader cupcake in just about every Quick Service location (think Studio Catering Co., Pizza Planet, and ABC Commissary, to name a few). But the Yoda Cupcake can only be found alongside Vader in three spots: Starring Rolls Cafe, Backlot Express, and a new spot this year: the Ackbar Snack Bar located inside Darth’s Mall (the Weekends’ prime merchandise location)!!!
By all means, go to Darth’s Mall, find Ackbar Snack Bar, and gaze upon it in all its glory… then head to Backlot Express or Starring Rolls to get your cupcakes a bit cheaper — they’re $5.75 at Ackbar’s, but they’re $5.19 at the Quick Service spots. (You can use your Disney Dining Plan snack credits for one of these cupcakes anywhere. )
By the way, Ackbar in the photo above is drinking from a Stormtrooper Stein, found at Quick Service locations throughout the park. Awesome.
But back to the cupcakes! Let’s start with the new guy… the Yoda Cupcake.
This chocolate cupcake is topped with a Chocolate Hazelnut Buttercream frosting (i.e. Nutella) and sprinkled liberally with toffee chocolate candy crunch. Yoda himself is made of white chocolate.
As I’ve learned from many a Mickey-shaped snack throughout the years, I go for the ears first.
Sorry, little dude. I still got nothin’ but love for ya.
Anyhoo… I’d mentioned a liberal sprinkle of toffee crunch. That’s to be found in [Read more…]

So, there’s this trend that keeps popping up over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we couldn’t be happier about it: seasonal cupcakes can be found pretty much all-year ‘round!
The Fall brought us the Pumpkin Cupcake with Maple Icing, and the holiday season brought us the return of the Gingerbread Cupcake. And they’re starting this year off with a bang… introducing the Blueberry Cupcake with Lemon Cream Cheese Icing!
First things first: before you can dig in, you’ve gotta know where to find it. Fortunately (as with most Hollywood Studios specialty cupcakes), you can find them in several Counter Service locations all around the park, including: Toy Story Pizza Planet, Fairfax Fare, ABC Commissary, Backlot Express, and the Studios resident cupcake haven, Starring Rolls Cafe.
Just look for this sign:
The exception to this rule, however, is Starring Rolls. In this case, just look for the cupcakes 🙂 .
The best thing about seeing it in person, is that — much like the Gourmet Cake Cups found at Magic Kingdom’s Cheshire Café — I feel that the “live” appearance of the cupcake exceeds the picture on the sign.
In fact, I looked at it from several angles, just to enjoy all the colors 🙂 .
Let’s take it from the top… because, in this case, the top [Read more…]
