Over the past several weeks, many states and communities across the nation have noticed a rise in positive cases as we head into cold and flu season, where cooler temperatures draw more people indoors and family gatherings become a regular part of our holiday season.

In response to the rise in cases and to continue to flatten the curve, the states of California, Oregon, and Washington have released a joint travel advisory to their residents.
Although the Disneyland Resort Backlot Premiere Shop has opened and Buena Vista Street is set to reopen soon for shopping and dining, Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park currently remain closed under California’s theme park reopening guidelines.

Today, we received an update as to whether there has been any change in the tier status of Orange County, where Disneyland Resort is located, which would move the parks closer to an eventual reopening.
California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly once again held his weekly news video conference which provided an update on the current tier status of the state’s counties.
Disneyland Park — Health and Safety Reminders
We learned during the update that Orange County, where Disneyland resides, is still in the red reopening tier, also known as “Substantial,” and will NOT advance to the Orange reopening tier at this time. Despite the lack of progress in Orange County, reporters continue to inquire on updates regarding theme park reopening guidelines, which are required in order for places like the Disneyland Resort to reopen.
California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly held a video news conference today to update the public on the current pandemic numbers in California, as well as introduce a new health equity metric that will be used in the state’s county tier system.
Disney California Adventure Park
We learned today that Orange County will NOT be moving forward to the next tier, orange or “moderate,” today. According to Orange County health officials, theme parks like Disneyland should be able to reopen in the orange tier, but without the theme park guidelines, they cannot move forward with any reopening plans.
Disneyland is currently in the seventh month of its historic closure, and many are wondering when the state of California will release the theme park industry guidelines needed in order to reopen.

Today, California Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mark Ghaly held a video conference call providing an update on the state’s reopening blueprint and where each county stands in their own reopening process, and commented on the whereabouts of the state’s reopening guidelines for the theme park industry.
