Earlier this week, we watched the last showing of EPCOT Forever, the fireworks show that played over the World Showcase Lagoon.

We’re sad to say goodbye to the old Disney World fireworks shows, like EPCOT Forever and Happily Ever After, but we’re also super excited for the new shows that are replacing them for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary! Before the debut, we took a look at the music, preparations, and even some testing for EPCOT’s new show. Tonight, we’re finally watching the first showing of EPCOT’s Harmonious. The Most Magical Place on Earth celebrates HALF A CENTURY on October 1st and there are lots of ways to celebrate. There will be a new fireworks show and cavalcade in Magic Kingdom, Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure will finally open, a new daytime show is coming to Animal Kingdom, 9 more Food and Wine Festival booths are opening in EPCOT, and SO MUCH MORE! We’re especially looking forward to the new decorations on Cinderella Castle, including the lights that will turn all 4 park icons into “Beacons of Magic.” And now, we’ve got our FIRST GLIMPSE of the new lighting on Spaceship Earth!

Lots of excitement is in store for Disney World in 2021.

First of all, this year is Disney World’s 50th anniversary! Pretty big deal, right?! Disney’s already released some exciting details, from new costumes for Mickey and Minnie to a celebration that’s over a YEAR long. But there’s more to look forward to in 2021, as changes of all kinds take place in the parks and resorts. Let’s take a look at everything Disney’s confirmed to open (so far) this year!

Okay, we’ve already heard a TON about Disney World’s 50th anniversary today.

We now know “The World’s Most Magical Celebration” will start on October 1st, 2021 and last for 18 months! We’ve seen how the parks will transform into “Beacons of Light,” and we’ve taken a peek at Mickey and Minnie’s new custom costumes. But with all this exciting news, maybe you missed a small detail: one of the 50th anniversary additions will become PERMANENT.
