The radical transformation of Epcot is well underway and pretty soon we’ll be wishing Future World a fond farewell and welcoming the new World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature districts with open arms.

Electric Umbrella has already closed to make way for the future, but today we’re taking to the skies on the monorail to see the rest of the construction progress happening around Epcot.
We’re pretty bloomin’ excited for the 2020 Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival from March 4th to June 1st. We’ve been checking out everything you can expect at the fest, from the Garden Rocks lineup to the Outdoor Kitchen menus.

Plus, you KNOW we’ve been counting the seconds until we got a first look at the merch in person! Of course, we’ve already gotten a preview of what we can expect but now we’re seeing it ALL! Spoiler alert: There’s a lot of Spike the Bee and Orange Bird — and we LOVE IT!

Similar to Epcot’s Festival of the Holiday’s Cookie Stroll, a new foodie quest will debut this year at Epcot when the Flower and Garden Festival kicks off on Wednesday, March 4th, annnnd it’s called the Garden Graze!

But that was before Disney just announced the DATE Spaceship Earth (as we know it!) will be CLOSING!
This year’s Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival is shaping up to have one of the most epic assortments of merchandise we’ve ever seen. And since the festival kicks off on March 4th, we will be able to purchase all of it VERY soon!

And while we already knew this festival would be bringing their A-game in 2020 when we first spotted the Orange Bird Minnie Ears, Spike the Bee Sipper, and a previewed a couple of the new items from the five different collections, today we’re sharing even more details about each of the new lines inspired by Mickey, Minnie, Orange Bird, Spike the Bee, and Figment!
UPDATE: Disney has announced Spaceship Earth will be officially closing May 26th, 2020!
We spend a lot of time floating around in the metaphorical “black hole” that is Disney permits and patents. Disney is a HUGE company, and that means that we’re constantly seeing building permits, invention patents, environmental resource permits, and MORE popping up with the Disney name on them.
Epcot’s Spaceship Earth
Well occasionally, a permit will catch our eye — and we spotted one recently that gave us some serious pause. On January 21st, a permit was filed for 2060 Avenue of the Stars. What’s that address, you ask? Well, it’s usually associated with the building housing Spaceship Earth.
Of course, we’re expecting a closure of the ride at some point during the Epcot transformation to make some significant changes to the attraction. The catch is we don’t know WHEN this closure is coming, but it’s possible that this permit is a clue.
