Sometimes, the weather just won’t behave. It can be too hot, too cold (YES, it happens), or it could be rainy (especially during hurricane season). Sometimes, rides close due to weather. Sometimes, rides just close for other reasons. Sometimes, you’re ON a ride when it closes, and you have to be evacuated from that ride. Well, that happened to us recently on two different rides ON THE SAME DAY.

Sometimes, the weather is completely uncooperative (rain, we’re talking about storms and rain). Sometimes, you have to deal with crowds. Sometimes, rides close because of technical or other issues. But what happens if you’re on a ride when those issues arise and it needs to be evacuated?
Ever wondered what it looks like when an EPCOT restaurant gets evacuated? Well, one of our friends got to experience that and we’re sharing the details with you.
Let’s Head to EPCOT
Evacuations and emergencies can happen in Disney World — ranging from fire alarm situations to Skyliner crashes. Oftentimes, the situation is remedied quickly and guests are able to go on their way, but no matter the outcome, it’s important to be safe and cautious when these situations take place. On September 1st, a friend of ours witnessed an evacuation in EPCOT — let’s go over what we know.

Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
For some people, getting evacuated from a Disney World ride can absolutely ruin the day, especially if you’ve got a dining reservation to make, you waited in the queue for an extended period of time, or it’s your first time experiencing the attraction. However, for other people…it’s a dream come true! You get the chance to see a little behind-the-scenes action, and it can honestly be pretty fascinating. Recently, we got evacuated off of one of Disney World’s newest rides, and we thought you might want to see what it’s like!
Ever sit inside of a darker Disney World ride and think to yourself “I wonder how awesome [creepy, weird, strange, incredible, fascinating, spooky, *insert word here*] this ride would look with the lights ON!“? Well, you’re not alone!
Splash Mountain
Disney makes purposeful use of lights and special effects to trick your eyes into seeing the “magic” that they want you to view. But, sometimes you might become witness to a very special situation. Turns out a ride stopping in the middle of your experience might not be a bad thing after all! 😂 Sometimes, when a ride breaks down, needs to be evacuated, or just temporarily stops, the lights in that attraction might all turn ON, giving you one of the most unique views of the ride that you’ll ever get! Believe it or not, it happens often — sometimes rides have technical issues and Cast Members end up having to evacuate guests off of rides. Although an evacuation can often be inconvenient, it can be a necessity (but, hey, you often get to see things on the ride you normally wouldn’t get to see!).
Though Disney World can be a magical place, sometimes things don’t quite go to plan.

We’ve seen rides shut down for technical issues, evacuated, or even closed due to smoke! Today, as we were walking through Magic Kingdom, we noticed that a popular ride was closed and being evacuated.
Sacré bleu! It seems there was a little kitchen mishap over in France recently.
Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure
Sometimes, things go wrong in Disney World. You drop your Mickey bar, you trip over the ledge on Main Street, U.S.A., an attraction has a little technical difficulty…we’ve all been there! Recently, a new (and very popular) attraction was evacuated in EPCOT. Talk about a kitchen nightmare!
