Happy Birthday, Disney California Adventure!
Disneyland Resort’s second park opened on February 8, 2001, so DCA is 18 years young today!
After a rocky start, I think DCA has really come into its own. With the addition of Pixar Pier, Guardians of the Galaxy Mission Breakout, and now Marvel Land coming to the park, there’s so much to enjoy and to anticipate!
But today we wanted to celebrate this enterprising little park by sharing some of our favorite treats — old and new — to get at the snack locations and shops around DCA! Let us know which is YOUR favorite!
It’s not a visit to Disneyland Resort without stopping for a corn dog, and one of our favorite spots is Corn Dog Castle! Here you can get a traditional hand-dipped corn dog, but you can also order the Hot Link Corn Dog and the Cheese Stick Corn Dog. See our review here! The Hot Link is a spicy dog coated in classic corn batter. It’s delicious and packs a bit of a punch!

Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival
is a fabulous opportunity to eat lots of great food and to drink lots of great drinks. And while we know we’ll be putting some of our returning favorites on our must-eat list — we also make a second list: New Stuff We Can’t Wait to Try! (Yeah, we’re all about lists here at DFB!)

And this is that list — including a few items we got the chance to sample recently!
The new Guinness Bailey’s Shake from the Ireland booth got us all kinds of excited when we saw it on the menu! We were expecting a frozen, creamy drink with a powerful hit of Guinness and Baileys — and that’s just what we got when we tried it during a preview! PLUS it comes with the glass! We can’t wait to try it again!

The Shimmering Sips Mimosa Bar is brand new this year, and the offerings sound incredible! Mimosas include varieties like the Tropical Mimosa and the Madras Mimosa (which we have tried!), and there’s a tasty-sounding, kid-friendly drink called Frozen Apple Pie!

While we don’t have a full list of booths or menus yet, we can tell many favorites including Hops and Barley in American Adventure Pavilion, Canada, Ireland, Mexico, France, Thailand, Hawaii, and more are returning.

It’s gettin’ real, y’all! The Epcot Flower and Garden Festival just wrapped, so you know what that means: the 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival is just around the corner!!!
If you haven’t already, mark your calendars for August 31-November 13, as the festival extends to an unprecedented 75 full days for the first time ever! And be sure to bookmark our 2017 Epcot Food and Wine Festival Main Page, because that’s where you can access all the details — including events, schedules, and booking dates!
Maybe you can’t tell, but we tend to get a little excited around here for F&W. 😉 And part of the countdown is reviewing some of the events that we had the pleasure to attend the previous year.
New to the festival in 2016, Disney added Mix It! Make It! Celebrate It! Hands-On Workshops at Festival Center — daily opportunities for guests to roll up their sleeves and participate in the learning process. And the event is BACK for 2017!

It’s high time for more 2016 Epcot Food and Wine Festival fun!
Once again, we’re going beyond the Marketplace Booths for a Special Event that is new to the Festival this year: Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! Hands-On Workshops. Similar to the Festival’s Culinary Demonstrations and Beverage Seminars, this new offering takes place daily in the Festival Center. However, the Mix It, Make It, Celebrate It! sessions offer an interactive element unique to this Special Event where participants can take tips directly from leaders in the culinary industry.
The choice of topics is extensive, ranging from forming sushi rolls to pasta making and vodka tasting to pumpkin decorating (and beyond — check out the full list of options here). We attended The Art of Pastry Making with Erin McKenna.
You might be familiar with Erin McKenna as the founder of Babycakes or the owner of Erin McKenna’s Bakery NYC in Disney Springs (or even her shops in New York and Los Angeles). If so, then you know that her focus is on creating tasty vegan and gluten-free goods. Since baking gluten-free items is not something I have previously attempted, I thought this would be a great opportunity to learn something new!
So join me in the Chef’s Showcase at the Festival Center to check out this new Special Event!
