Port Orleans — French Quarter
A pool at Disney’s Port Orleans Resort—French Quarter briefly closed, but it is once again open to hotel guests! Not too many people might be going swimming in December, but it’s still good to see these refurbishments come to an end.

Magic Kingdom
Big and small occasions are worthy of being celebrated if you’re at Disney World. Disney hands out “I’m Celebrating” pins to guests for pretty much any reason, and this week, we’re going to have to grab one to celebrate this small update at Magic Kingdom! Will you also be celebrating the return of a special treehouse at the Most Magical Place on Earth? Catch us climbing all over this tree this week.

Magic Kingdom
If you are, there is LOTS to do at the resort. Now that it’s the holidays, Disney is offering even more entertainment at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, Jollywood Nights, and the EPCOT Festival of the Holidays. Lots of rides are open and ready for you to enjoy, shows are available to see, and so much more. However, there are 11 closures that you will want to keep in mind while you’re visiting this coming week!
Sorry, Pop Century fans, but we have a bit of bad news for you.
Pop Century Resort
There has been ongoing construction at Disney’s Pop Century Resort, and while it was supposed to be done this week, it has now been extended once again. Luckily, it’s not all bad news, though! Let’s find out what Everything Pop Dining & Shopping construction will continue and what is done.

And we’re not even talking about things like Villains Land or the two Cars attractions coming to Frontierland. No, for this one, let’s talk about the new lounge for Disney Vacation Club members and break it all down!

It’s during the winter months that Disney will often close pools for refurbishment since there aren’t nearly as many people swimming when the temperatures are cooler. As we’re getting into the last months of the year, we’re starting to see hotel pools close, including one that will be closed until late December.
There are some exciting changes coming to Magic Kingdom!

With big expansions like Villains Land and the upcoming transformation of Tom Sawyer Island and the Rivers of America into two Cars attractions, there are going to be a lot of new offerings to check out in the next several years. But before all of that happens, there will be a new lounge for Disney Vacation Club members!

Disney closes rides and attractions from time to time for short periods so they can conduct refurbishments. These refurbishments are often for routine maintenance, but sometimes changes are also made. We keep track of the big closures happening around the parks, and there’s a NEW one you should know about if you’re planning a trip to Magic Kingdom in the coming month.
Disney World is about to be in a bit of a transformation.
Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy
New lands are coming to Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, AND Disney’s Hollywood Studios. New Cars attractions will be available at Magic Kingdom, and an all-new show is headed to Hollywood Studios. And that’s not even everything! However, to make way for several of these new things, some classic attractions have had to close. For example, Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy closed for good in Hollywood Studios on October 8th, but at least now we’re starting to see steps being taken for the new show to open!
Since the 2020 closures, Disney World has been treating its water parks a little differently.
Typhoon Lagoon
Before 2020, both water parks, Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, would be open at the same time throughout the summer, and then one would close in the winter for refurbishment. Nowadays, when one water park is open, the other is closed, and they switch out all year long, regardless of the season. As we’re headed into the winter season, it’s time for these two parks to swap out once again!
