At the 2023 Destination D23 event at Disney’s Contemporary Resort in Disney World, we learned that Star Tours, the ride in Hollywood Studios and Disneyland, would be receiving some new updates.
Star Tours in Hollywood Studios
Over the years, this simulator ride and the show at its premise have undergone several changes, including new characters and new missions. Well, the day has finally come. This classic Star Wars ride that was created by Disney and Lucasfilm is getting another upgrade. Let’s take a look at what you might experience the next time you take a ride on Star Tours in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Star Tours first opened at Disneyland to massive hoopla in 1987, and almost immediately became one of the park’s most popular – and most beloved – attractions. Clones of the revolutionary-for-the-time simulator attractions came to both Walt Disney World’s MGM Studios theme park and Tokyo Disneyland in 1989, and opened with Disneyland Paris in 1992. For decades, Disney and George Lucas teased the idea that new ride films could be added to the attraction, which finally came to pass in the early 2010s when each version closed, only to be reopened as Star Tours: The Adventure Continues, with alternating randomized experiences featuring differed locales and characters from the Star Wars galaxy. Since the new versions opened, they have been continuously updated with additional alternating scenes from new Star Wars projects.
It’s almost time to head over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios for some CHANGES!

That’s right! We are going to be seeing some updates to a ride in a land far far away. If you’re familiar with Star Tours — The Adventures Continue, you know that no two rides are ever the same (okay, that’s a slight exaggeration, but still.) That is something we LOVE about the ride, but now we have something even BETTER to look forward to when we hop on this ride in the future.
