food IS a theme park
When Disney World reopened last year, a LOT changed, especially with entertainment.
Some entertainment went away altogether, while other experiences were modified to account for health and safety guidelines.
With Disney World set to reopen its Disney Vacation Club Resorts on June 22, along with Disney’s Fort Wilderness, we’re ready to head back to some of our favorite hotels on property and catch up on EVERYTHING we’ve missed since March!
But not so fast! While we were perusing which restaurants will open on June 22, we noticed there were SEVERAL dining experiences missing from those lists that made our jaws hit the floor! Here are six restaurants that we are SHOCKED to find will not be a part of their resorts’ initial reopenings.
It’s true, there are a lot of absolutely wonderful restaurants in the Disney World theme parks.
But what if we told you there were some equally wonderful meals (perhaps even MORE wonderful!) OUTSIDE of the parks? That’s right, today we’re taking a look at some of the BEST meals in Disney World that you won’t find in the parks.
Even the most seasoned Disney World vacationers still make mistakes!
As magical as they are, Disney vacations definitely take a LOT of planning! So, no matter how many times you’ve been, you’re still bound to make some mistakes. And we’re no exception! Here are the biggest mistakes we’ve made in Disney World!
Disney knows its foodie fans are always trying to recreate their favorites at home, so they’ve sent us a gift: food recipes.Â
And while we are SO appreciative that they’re thinking of us, we couldn’t help but notice they’ve missed the mark JUST A TOUCH in the recipes they’ve been sharing.
We have shared Disney’s recipe for a “frozen pineapple treat,” and while we love a good “frozen pineapple treat” as much as the next person, Dole Whip, this wasn’t. That got us thinking…what other iconic Disney recipes can we share with our readers? We have a few we think you’re REALLY gonna love.

Update: Hoop-Dee-Doo will now remain open in Fall 2012.Update: Bistro de Paris will remain closed through early December. New name for Bistro de Paris will be “Monsieur Paul” — a fitting tribute to Chef Paul Bocuse!
There have been a lot of updates about restaurant closures lately, and I wanted to share the latest information we have so that it’s easier to make (or cancel or change ;-D) your Advance Dining Reservations.
In today’s news, the Signature restaurant Bistro de Paris in Epcot’s France pavilion will be closed for renovations starting July 1, 2012, and lasting until the end of October.
According to emails being sent out to guests, Advance Dining Reservations are being moved to Chefs de France.
This closing is possibly due to the Epcot France bakery expansion about which we’ve previously reported. The French bakery, Boulangerie Patisserie, is slated for many changes, including an updated menu, expanded kitchen, and more.
in Disney’s Beach Club Resort will be closed from [Read more…]

I can’t believe I haven’t done a best fried chicken post, yet, but maybe that’s because I was subconsciously waiting until I got the chance to try the fried chicken wonderfulness at The Plaza Inn in Disneyland!
Whatever the reason, it’s time to jump into a big vat of fatty, greasy flavor today on the DFB!!!! Let’s talk chicken-that-is-fried!!! Here are three of my very favorite Disney fried chicken versions. Let me know your favorites in the comments section so I can try ’em!
Aunt Liz’s Golden Fried Chicken
at 50’s Prime Time Cafe has always been one of my favorite meals in Disney World.
It’s served with mashed potatoes, gravy, and southern greens, but if you’re like me and know you won’t eat the greens, it’s best to substitute beans or something else you will eat. Don’t want to end up standing in the corner for not eating your veggies, do you? 😉
A large portion, this one, so don’t forget to come prepared with an empty stomach! And if you’d rather try a bit of this along with some of the restaurant’s other two signature dishes — pot roast and meatloaf — get the 50’s Prime Time Cafe sampler platter!
Yep, I’ve been told that the Plaza Inn Fried Chicken is wonderful and indeed it is! The Plaza Inn has been touting this chicken as its specialty for years, and there’s good reason.
Plaza Inn is a table-service character restaurant for breakfast, but turns into a counter-service “cafeteria” spot for lunch and dinner. Just walk in and find the fried chicken station, then [Read more…]

I am SO excited to be finally writing about this topic. Hoop Dee Doo Revue is justified in being one of the prime Disney World dinner shows, and I can see why folks make it a priority stop on so many of their trips. So, tie on yer ‘kerchiefs and grab yer spurs, y’all! We’re goin’ to Pioneer Hall!
There’s nothing like walking into Pioneer Hall at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort for the first time. This massive auditorium is filled with tables — even up to the rafters — all oriented toward [Read more…]
