Halloween might be all about the sweets, but Halloween Time at Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park mixes things up with savory treats as well! And one such savory bite can be found at Refreshment Corner right on Main Street, U.S.A.! Queue up for the Halloween Hot Dog!
The NEW Western Dog at Refreshment Corner in Disneyland Resort!!
In case you were wondering, we are still making our way through the extensive, ever-evolving Pixar Fest food, and we’re still loving every minute of it.
Today we’re at Refreshment Corner — often referred to as Coke Corner (which we like because alliteration) — and we’re digging into a hot dog that’s got so much good stuff on it that we already want another.
News and Review: Corn Dog Nugget Nachos are BACK at Whitewater Snacks in Disneyland!
is tucked away inside Disney’s Grand Californian at Disneyland. Despite the out-of-the-way location, we always like to see what’s on the menu. And guess what? Everyone is welcome; you don’t need to be a guest of the hotel to dine at this quick-service spot.
One of the reasons that we think you should stop by is for the Hot Dog of the Month — Corn Dog NUGGET NACHOS! Remember when we first brought this one to your attention? Well, they are still very popular.
Review: Croissant Donuts and Breakfast Hot Dog at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom
Just when you thought Casey’s Corner couldn’t get any better (rotating Specialty Hot Dogs!), now our favorite Disney World hot dog spot is open for breakfast!
Recently, Walt Disney World announced that its beloved “Welcome Show” would move from its familiar location atop the train station to its new home on the stage in front of Cinderella’s Castle.
Casey’s Corner, with its perfect Main Street location and iconic design, is one of a few Main Street, USA, locations that will be opening for the breakfast crowd. We love Casey’s classic decor so much, we might stop for breakfast just to spend more time checking it out!
While the relocation of the Welcome Show was a downer for those who have grown to love watching it at the train station, the introduction of new breakfast options is pretty exciting!
Review: Mac-and-Cheese Hot Dog Returns to Casey’s Corner for a Limited Time
: home of baseball memorabilia, intermittent ragtime jazz performances, and, of course, our go-to Disney hot dogs.
It’s a familiar stop for most visitors to the Magic Kingdom. For some, it is a must-stop, the craving for salty dog and cushiony bun too strong to resist (and who needs to resist while on vacation?).
We first told you about Casey’s new plans for a rotating menu of featured dogs a few weeks ago. Now, we’re back with a review of this month’s specialty: the Mac and Cheese Hot Dog.
This specialty doggy can be found in numerous places around Disney World from time to time. We’ll never forget when we first spotted it, toting Truffle Oil, way back in 2012 in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Since then, we’ve also found it at Animal Kingdom’s Restaurantosaurus and Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom; and a Mac and Cheese Burger was spotted at Epcot’s Electric Umbrella.
And we have to say that in so many ways, this particular one is a recipe for addiction: Casey’s famous hot dog smothered in mac and cheese and sprinkled with a healthy dose of bacon? That’s gotta be the epitome, right?
Review: New Menu Items at Epcot’s Liberty Inn
We are back at Liberty Inn, the Quick Service spot in The American Adventure in Epcot!
If you’re strolling around World Showcase and are on the hunt for some perfectly patriotic eats, Liberty Inn is your place. For a long time, offerings were pretty basic at this Counter Service location, which primarily features expected fare like burgers, chicken breast nuggets, and salads.
While that still holds true in most regards, it’s worth noting that Liberty Inn made some strides late last year towards providing a couple of options that reflect a greater array of American cuisine, including a few regional dishes like a Lousiana-Style Shrimp dish as well as Maryland Crab Cakes.
However, the menu has changed up once again, so we returned to scope out the situation and see what’s new, what’s gone, and how things are shaping up.
So, let’s step back into everyone’s favorite Publick Dining Room, Liberty Inn! [Read more…]
Dining in Disneyland: Big Hero 6 Teriyaki Street Dog & Coconut Milk Tea from Award Wieners
If you haven’t seen Big Hero 6 yet, then you need to get to the movie theater ASAP. My whole family, teenager included, enjoyed it. I’m now totally in love with Baymax.
So, when I saw that there were Big Hero 6 special menu items at Award Wieners in Disney California Adventure, I was all in.
There are two special menu items, the Teriyaki Street Dog and Coconut Milk Tea that are definitely worth a visit to Award Wieners.
Both items are unbelievably delicious. I’m normally not a hot dog person (I’ll take a corn dog over a hot dog on any Disney day), but the flavors in the description intrigued me.
The Teriyaki Dog is a Teriyaki glazed all beef hot dog served on a Garlic Chive Roll. It’s topped with Wasabi Mayonaisse and Ginger, Carrot & Cucumber Slaw. If you’re not into spicy, don’t let the word wasabi scare you away. I’m only a mild spice type of person (so this means I’m just mildy boring, right?) and I could totally handle it. In fact, I really loved it.
The mayo had just a little bit of kick to it and combined with the flavors of the hot dog and slaw, it was perfect.
The Teriyaki Street Dog is $8.50. [Read more…]
Review: Sommerfest in Epcot’s Germany Pavilion
Editor’s Note: New entrees and side items were recently added to the menu.
Alrighty, all — it’s time to take a little field trip to Deutschland!! We’re headed to Sommerfest!
This place is as simple and what-you-see-is-what-you-get as possible, but sometimes simple and easy is exactly what you need on a long Epcot touring day. When you don’t have an advance dining reservation and you’re headed toward Epcot’s Germany Pavilion, you might consider stopping at this little counter service spot!
Sausage. Pretzel. Beer. Cake. What more do you need? Let’s check it out!
Atmosphere
Atmosphere is kind of limited, since this is basically in the giant stone waiting area of Biergarten, the pavilion’s table service restaurant. That said, the waiting area itself is very well themed and has a fun old world feel to it. That’s really something I love about the whole Germany Pavilion.
Sommerfest is located at the back of the Pavilion. Head through the “town square,” past the counter selling beer and Jägermeister on your right, to the awning that reads “Sommerfest Snacks”.
Turn the corner to the left, and you’re there! It really isn’t much more than a serving counter. You’ll head back out to the sunshine to find a seat in the square by the fountain once you get your food.
Speaking of seating — there’s not much of it. There are a few tables scattered inside the big covered area, and a couple of them outside as well. But if you’re visiting during prime meal hours or a busy Disney season, those WILL all be taken when you get your food. Many folks perch on the edge of the fountain, or even sit on the ground to eat up.
And one other thing — there’s almost always a line here. But your patience will be rewarded.
Cast Members here, who are from Germany of course, know [Read more…]
The Disney Food Blog “All-American Disney World Food Crawl”
Happy Fourth of July
from Disney Food Blog!
In celebration of America’s independence, I sure wish I was eating my way around Disney World today! If you happen to be there for the holiday — or you just wish you were — we’re doing our patriotic best to inspire you with red, white, and blue eats.
Without further ado, let’s head out on an All-American Food Crawl!
Angus Chuck Cheeseburger at Liberty Tree Tavern
While the Beaches and Cream burger above is a great place to start, we’re going to head to the Magic Kingdom and somewhere a bit more historical!
Start your journey with lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern. This restaurant, located in Liberty Tree Square, pays tribute to Colonial America. Dine in rooms dedicated to notables of American history, like Betsy Ross, Benjamin Franklin, George & Martha Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Paul Jones, or Paul Revere.
While dinner is a delicious feast served family-style, lunch is an a la carte offering. And my favorite meal is the Angus Chuck Cheeseburger topped with bacon and cheddar cheese.
A juicy, thick burger is served perfectly with steak-cut fries. It may sound common, but it’s one of my favorite burgers in all of Disney World!
Hot Dogs at Casey’s Corner
When the next hunger pangs roll around, head to Casey’s Corner on Main Street U.S.A. for another favorite Fourth of July grill food: Hot Dogs!
I love a good plain hot dog from Casey’s! And there are always great condiments and toppings to dress it up, like plastic cheese!
But the Corn Dog Nuggets are pretty [Read more…]
