Things are about to get pricier in Disney World.
Lightning Lane
Now is the time when we start seeing food prices increase at Disney World restaurants. We also just recently found out that ticket prices are going up for 2025. We recently saw the highest price YET for Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Disney’s paid service to skip the standby lines at rides. Well, we’re now seeing a new price for Lightning Lane Multi Pass that it is even higher for the end of the month.
As of July 24th, 2024, Disney Genie and Genie+ is now Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass. These services are bringing big changes to the way we plan for (and budget) our days in the parks.
Lightning Lane
Lightning Lane Multi Pass is a PAID service that replaces what used to be known as FastPass+. The days of booking a return time for your favorite ride at no additional cost are behind us (RIP). Now, guests must purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass if they want to experience an expedited wait.

Halloween in Disney World!
Tickets are already sold out for Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom and Oogie Boogie Bash in Disney California Adventure, you can still experience the Halloween decorations during the day and some of the exciting Halloween treats around the parks. However, that also means it’s a busy month in the parks, and if you’re heading to Disney World, this is how much you can expect to pay for Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass through the month of October!
Paying to skip the lines in Disney World isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but it is a great way to save time on your Disney World day.
Goodbye Genie+
We don’t recommend Lightning Lane Multi Pass (formerly Genie+) for all the parks if you’re on a multiple-day trip. Still, we definitely think it’s a must-grab if you’re trying to do all the rides you can in Magic Kingdom or Disney’s Hollywood Studios without waiting too long. If you’re in the parks today, we have great news — the prices have dropped!

Magic Kingdom
Over in Magic Kingdom, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure started to welcome visitors to go down the Bayou in June. The Country Bear Jamboree re-opened with a brand new show that features the Bears singing Disney tunes. Plus, TRON Lightcycle / Run no longer uses Virtual Queue! In EPCOT, CommuniCore Hall and Plaza opened, marking the completion of the EPCOT Transformation. We even got big news at D23 about changes and additions coming to all four parks! It can be hard to keep up, and we were shocked when Disney made a huge announcement about Genie+, the pay-to-skip-the-line service.Â
Some of the things we do in Disney World might seem weird to some folks, but believe us when we say we have a reason for this “weird” behavior.
My Disney Experience app
For example, you’ll never not find us without reusable straws in our day bags — that’s because Disney is getting rid of plastic straws and the paper ones just aren’t that great (and the agave ones make your drinks taste weird). We also carry around a tray during EPCOT festivals because it makes ordering a bunch of food a lot easier when we can just carry it on our tray. There’s another weird thing we do, too, when we’re in Disney World: We take a lot of screenshots of the My Disney Experience app. Now we’re going to tell you why.
At the end of September, the price for Lightning Lane Multi Pass is dropping to the lowest price we have seen!

Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass premiered in Disney World in July 2024, replacing the old Genie+ offering. This new system is a paid offering, with prices varying depending on the park and the day, so you may have to budget differently depending on where you’re headed. But it’s exactly that varied pricing structure that may be causing people to make BAD plans!

Sometimes, attractions, rides, shops, and restaurants close to make way for new offerings, or they end up sitting abandoned. So much has happened this year at Disney World. We found out that eight new attractions will be making their way to Disney World over the next few years and also found out that certain areas, like Tom Sawyer Island, will close to make way for some of these new additions to the park. While we are still waiting for confirmation on when other areas of the parks will close, we have a list of 11 things that we permanently lost at Disney World this year.
