Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party is currently happening in Magic Kingdom through October 31st, but after that, the holiday season will EXPLODE into Disney World! Many Disney World fans wish it would wait a little longer, preferably until after Thanksgiving, but we love that having Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party start so early gives more families a chance to experience the magic while they visit the parks. We Spent Almost $300 in Disney World to Prove a Point. Here’s What We Learned.

Well, Genie+ has gone away in Disney World (and many might say “Good riddance!”) and has been replaced with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass.

The good news? This new Lightning Lane system brought back some features from the old FastPass+ system that many Disney fans have wanted. The bad news? It’s still going to cost you money (unlike FastPass+, which was free). However, we spent some serious $$$ to test out both Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass so we could answer ALL your questions about it. In the process, we learned a valuable lesson about the new system.

Disney World just looooooves to change things up on us and the latest victim is the skip-the-line service.

What once was FastPass, FastPass+, and Genie+, is now Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass. But, before these recent changes rolled out, Disney introduced surge pricing to what was Genie+ at the time. Depending on the date of your visit, you may find yourself paying more or less to skip the line based on demand. Or, at least, that’s how it’s supposed to work!

We Tested the NEW Lightning Lane System in Disney World, and It’s EASIER Than You Think!

Since Disney World replaced Genie+ with Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, we’ve been busy testing the entire new system out.

We’ve tried it while park hopping. We’ve discovered some of the best tricks for the new system. We’ve tried it in every park and we’ve used it for advance planning as both Disney World hotel guests and not. Now that we’ve put the new system through its paces, we’re going to say this: it’s so much easier to use than you think. Yes, really! We think this is a huge improvement over Genie+!

Fans Can’t Seem to Agree If This Disney World App Change Made Things BETTER or WORSE

Disney World has seen a lot of changes over the last month or so, and it is hard to keep up!

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure opened at the end of June, and now you can go down to the Bayou with Tiana and all her friends in Frontierland. Also, in Frontierland, the Country Bear Jamboree re-opened with a brand new show! The most significant change that hit across the entire resort was that we said goodbye to Genie+ and hello to Lightning Lane Multi and Single Pass. With this new pay-to-skip-the-line system, changes came to the My Disney Experience app.

Remember that octopus drink that Disney World offered for the 50th Anniversary? Yeah, that was…weird. Then there have been some controversies with menu items when Disney removed popular foods and replaced with them something subpar (Sleepy Hollow in Magic Kingdom, we’re looking at you). Sometimes, though, Disney fans are loud enough that we think Disney MUST be paying attention because things do occasionally change after public outcry.
