Spring Break crowds have started turning up at both the Orlando International Airport AND Disney World.
Things are BUSY in Disney World right now
That means we’re seeing a lot of long standby wait times for rides. That also means we’ve recently seen Genie+, which allows guests to bypass those long lines, has been priced at its absolute highest for several days in a row. HOWEVER, today, something has changed.
Did you hear the HUGE news about TRON Lightcycle / Run?
Get ready to enter the Grid!
On Friday, March 17th, Disney told us that TRON will have a soft opening in Magic Kingdom! Some guests will be able to ride TRON: Lightcycle / Run EARLY from March 20th to April 2nd. This is two weeks sooner than guests would have been able to get on the ride, as the official opening date is April 4th. A limited number of slots for the virtual queues will be available, and Individual Lightning Lanes will be available to purchase as well. If you wanted to book a trip to take advantage of this soft opening, you might want to hurry, because park passes are selling out FAST.
TRON Lightcycle / Run is opening in Magic Kingdom SOON (in fact, it’s opening sooner than we thought!), and a new ride means CHANGES in other parts of the park.

The TRON coaster will make use of a virtual queue and will also have an Individual Lightning Lane option if you want to pay to skip the line. Previously, when a new ride has opened in a park, the existing ride that used an Individual Lightning Lane swapped to be part of the normal Disney Genie+. On April 4th, the new coaster in Magic Kingdom officially opens, and we are pumped! We’re getting NEW Tron-themed food, tons of fun TRON merchandise, and a new interactive experience. (And possibly even a new character sighting on opening day?). But one of the coolest things we’ll get to experience is the lit canopy that shines in blues and oranges at night, representing Team Blue and Team Orange, while the lightcycles speed by underneath. So does that mean that TRON is a much better experience at night? We’ve been lucky enough to ride a few times so we are bringing you the details.

That means we’re starting to see crowds in Disney World. That means guests visiting Disney World over this period will have a more difficult time making advance dining reservations, park pass reservations, and more. That also means that Genie+ is going to cost more due to demand.
For many, Magic Kingdom is the epicenter of Disney World. Plenty of the resort’s most recognizable attractions are located in this park!

It’s also the most popular park at Disney World, and even the lesser-known attractions can rack up long wait times. If you’re trying to hit every one on your wish list you may want to take advantage of Disney’s Genie+ service and use Lightning Lanes!
Well, the day has finally come — today is the LAST day Disney World guests will get to ride Splash Mountain. The attraction will be reimagined into a new ride, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.

We already saw LOADS of crowds getting in one last ride on the attraction this weekend, but today, things are looking even busier! For those who chose to purchase Genie+ to access Splash Mountain’s Lightning Lane, we hope you got a time earlier because as of right now, there are no Lightning Lane times left!
Even two years after Disney World’s historic closure and reopening, we’re still seeing some restaurants, character experiences, and entertainment JUST starting to return to the parks. Fantasmic! only returned last year, and the character meet-and-greets at Pete’s Silly Sideshow in Magic Kingdom only returned a week ago.
Ariel’s Grotto
We recently learned that ANOTHER character meet-and-greet was returning to Magic Kingdom: Ariel will soon be greeting guests again from Ariel’s Grotto. Now, we know even more details about that experience.

Sometimes rides go down
Bad weather can shut down rides. Sometimes rides just don’t work right. Sometimes rides are temporarily closed due to technical issues. Whatever the case, if you’ve paid to ride an attraction that closes before you have a chance to ride it, what happens then?
We probably aren’t the first ones to mention that Disney World can get a tad bit busy around the holidays.

We’ve been keeping up with the crowds and wait times so you know how to prepare for your visit, and while some crowds have surprised us (in being shockingly low), other spots have had big crowds. High crowd levels may tempt you to pay for Genie+ or get Pay-Per-Ride access to Disney World’s most popular attractions.
