Not only has Genie+ been renamed to Lightning Lane Multi Pass (and Individual Lightning Lanes are now Lightning Lane Single Pass), but it’s also completely changing how you do Disney World. We’ve been bringing you a look at the new system, but still need to answer one important question. So, let’s see how park hopping works with the new Lightning Lane system in Disney World!

Well, we could have called this one. In case you haven’t heard, Disney just made BIG changes to its paid skip-the-line service, now called Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. We have a TON of super in-depth information about all the changes, and we’re even reporting LIVE on all the new features. It’s a whirlwind, but we’re working HARD to bring you all the information you need to know before your next vacation.

As a quick refresher, Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes are now called Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass. There is a lot to learn about the new system, and we’ve got reporters in Disney World testing all kinds of Lightning Lane situations. But during our experimentation, we already started to notice some problems — let’s talk about them!
OK, Disney fans. It’s time to dig deep into the depths of your memory. We’re going back in time to the days of FastPass+, Disney’s (old) skip-the-line service. Under the FastPass+ system, you could book ride reservations BEFORE your trip, giving you access to shorter lines throughout the day. Why are we bringing this up right now? Well, Disney just implemented some HUGE changes to its current (paid) skip-the-line service, and some of the new features sound pretty familiar.

The new skip-the-line system is essentially a rebrand of Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes, now called Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, respectively. Genie+ is officially GONE in Disney World, and Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass have taken its place. This new system is quite similar to FastPass+, with a few key differences. We just experienced the new system ourselves, and it’s time to break it ALL down.
Staying at a Disney World hotel provides guests with exciting perks that other guests don’t get access to.

We’ll admit that unfortunately a lot of these have gone away over the past few years, but all hotel guests still have access to Early Entry into any Disney World theme park 30 minutes before park open each day, Deluxe hotel guests also have Extended Evening Hours in select parks on certain days, and starting in 2025, all hotel guests can enter whichever Disney World water park is open at that time for free on the day of their arrival, just to name a few. However, starting today, a HUGE new hotel perk begins, and anyone staying at a hotel soon NEEDS to know about it!

For years, Disney World has experimented with different ways to skip the lines at its popular attractions. There was FastPass+, there were paper tickets and kiosks, and eventually, there was Genie+. These days, if you want to access the Lightning Lane (a.k.a. the shorter “express lane”), you need to pay an additional fee. As it stands currently (now through July 23rd, 2024), Disney Genie provides access to Lightning Lanes as well as other planning tools to help you maximize your time in Disney World. But soon, this service is changing.

In fact, BIG changes are coming to Genie+ at Disney World SOON! Starting July 24th, 2024, there will be an official name for the Lightning Lane service that is currently part of Disney Genie. Say hello to Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass, an updated version of Genie+ and Individual Lightning Lanes. OK, this may sound confusing, but we’re here to help! Recently, it seems like Disney has taken a step to help clear up some confusion, too.

Genie+ and Lightning Lanes are about to change at the Disney Parks beginning July 24th, as Genie+ becomes Lightning Lane Multi Pass and individual Lightning Lanes become Lightning Lane Single Pass. These new skip-the-line systems deviate a bitt from the previous installation with advanced reservations and tier systems, but the objective is still the same.
