, Disney Springs’ newest restaurant, opened earlier this month, and we dig the tasty menu of Italian favorites.
The Best Thing I Ate All Week in Disney World Was At Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge.
is a terrific place to dine if you’re looking for a little Hollywood Flair at Disney’s Hollywood Studios — and the best part is that there’s no ADR required!
That’s right! You can saunter up to Brown Derby Lounge on a whim and experience the understated elegance and tasty menu that so many have lauded in the Brown Derby Restaurant proper.
We’ve enjoyed our visits here, where Margarita and Martini Flights rule and you almost can’t go wrong with the menu of Brown Derby Restaurant-approved eats. And with outdoor seating on Hollywood Boulevard, it’s a great place for people watching!
During a recent visit to the World, I dropped in for a few plates of food — and left having eaten the best thing I ate in my entire visit! I love being surprised by awesome food — even more so when it’s served in such a great location!
News and Review: Candy Corn Margarita at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
Okay, so Halloween is over, and Christmas decor is going up all over Walt Disney World (most noticeably in Hollywood Studios, which you can catch over on our Instagram!). But before we get knee deep in snowmen and Santa hats, we’ve gotta try the brand new Candy Corn Margarita being poured over at the Hollywood Studios pop-up bars!
This seasonal drink is crafted from Patron Silver Tequila, Stoli Vanil Vodka, Fanta Orange, and a splash of Lemonade. And it comes with a glow cube! [Read more…]
Review: Territory Lounge in Disney’s Wilderness Lodge
The landscape sure has changed at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
With this summer’s opening of the Disney Vacation Club Copper Creek Villas and Cabins, it was anticipated that more and elevated dining options would be needed at the already popular Resort. Hence the refurbishment of Roaring Fork as well as the addition of Geyser Point Bar & Grill.
And honestly, Geyser Point really is a terrific new spot. But today I’m taking you back to where it all started (in regards to great lounges at Wilderness Lodge): Territory Lounge. I don’t care how many terrific enhancements they make to the Lodge. This spot will continue to rank among the best lounges in Walt Disney World, in my opinion.
They serve great drinks (with lots of Canadian beer options), but even better than the drinks is the upscale pub grub with old favorites served up in new ways, and less familiar dishes heavily inspired by the Pacific Northwest. [Read more…]
News! STK Comes to Disney Springs and Animal Kingdom Starbucks Locale Suspected
We recently took a look back at some of the top Disney Food News Stories of 2014. And today, we’re happy to let you in on some of the new dining experiences you can expect in 2015. We figure there’s lots more to come, but this is certainly a good start!
STK Coming to Downtown Disney Orlando
First up: another new restaurant is coming to Disney Springs! STK by the The ONE Group Hospitality, Inc., will open in The Landing area of the new development, which replaces the closed entertainment district Pleasure Island.
STK will be a modern steakhouse, but will channel the atmosphere of a “sleek lounge”. Plans call for the restaurant to encompass approximately 14,000 square feet, two dining levels — and a DJ! This leaves us wondering — will STK make up for some of the night clubs we lost when Pleasure Island closed?
The DJ and lounge aspect sounds pretty cool, but we’re also looking forward to checking out the planned rooftop dining — the only such area slated for Disney Springs at present.
Interestingly, STK is the first announcement of a chain restaurant that we’ve seen slated for Disney Springs. Other locations include New York City, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Washington D.C., and London.
Probable Starbucks Location in Disney’s Animal Kingdom
We are also hearing lots of rumblings about where Starbucks may be located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom when it opens later this year.
While it hasn’t been officially announced, it looks like [Read more…]
News! Hollywood Brown Derby Patio Lounge May Be Opening Soon in Disney’s Hollywood Studios!
We have a fun rumor to share!
We’ve heard through the grapevine that the Hollywood Brown Derby at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is opening ‘The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge’ soon — possibly even this week!
The new lounge will be located on the existing patio at the Hollywood Brown Derby, but seating will be on a first come, first served basis. No reservations are required!
This sounds a lot like the great additions of Tutto Gusto and Cava del Tequila in Epcot as well as the Lava Lounge in Downtown Disney.
A no-reservation option that still offers some great eats and good drinks!? I’m in.
Eats
Speaking of eats, the menu items at the Lounge are coming from the restaurant’s appetizer menu. You’ll be able to choose from Artisinal Cheeses, Brown Derby Sliders, Duck Confit Tacos, Prince Edward Island Mussels, Charcuterie Board for two, and Brown Derby Shrimp Cocktail.
While enjoying some great food you’ll also be able to sip on [Read more…]
Guest Review: Photo Tour of NEW Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar and Grill at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort
We’re thrilled to introduce guest author Bob Sikon with a review of the re-opened Hurricane Hanna’s quick service restaurant and pool bar at the Yacht and Beach Club Resort.
The poolside dining area at Stormalong Bay has been under refurbishment for the past several months, and now re-opens with a fresh feel and brand new name! There are also several more items on the bar menu and counter service menu for guests to enjoy! Scroll down to see pictures of a few of these!
Let’s take a look at the updated name, atmosphere, and menu…
The quick-service outdoor restaurant at the Beach Club resort has re-opened after a lengthy refurbishment. It’s now known as Hurricane Hanna’s Waterside Bar & Grill!
Atmosphere
As you look at Hurricane Hanna’s, the bar is on the left, the food ordering queue and counter is in the center, and the mug wash and condiment station is on the right.
The updated yet classic nautical feel offers guests a “sit and stay a while” feel. We like the new sturdy wooden bar chairs and great-looking lanterns lighting the bar area.
The counter-service ordering area is set up as usual to the right of the [Read more…]
Guest Review: Downtown Disney’s AMC “Fork and Screen” Theater
Let’s welcome back Bill Iadonisi with another fun Disney Food review! This time he covers the “Fork and Screen” experience in Downtown Disney’s AMC Theatre!
When the film “The Jazz Singer” premiered on October 6, 1927, it ushered in the beginning of the “talkies” and the demise of the silent movie era. It was stated that this was the most revolutionary and evolutionary advancement for the film industry. The movie-going public would never view films the same way again. But although this technology did change the way films were made, the movie going experience has changed very little since.
That was until the concept of combining the proverbial “dinner and a movie” was brought into being. The “Fork and Screen” theaters were born, and the way we go out to see a movie has been revolutionized.
Atmosphere
The Fork and screen made its debut here in downtown Disney on May 16, 2011. When I first heard about this, I was a bit skeptical. After all, I thought “where in a movie theater could you possibly eat and be comfortable?” There was no room to put the food, and you would [Read more…]

News! Complimentary Beer Sampling at Disney’s Contemporary Resort!
UPDATE: Since posting this, we have gotten word that this beer tasting is only for guest staying at the Contemporary Resort or Bay Lake Towers. We’d heard differently from a Contemporary CM before printing, but this word is directly from the manager at the restaurant. Sorry folks!
In a recent comment, reader Bill M. (thanks, Bill!!) told us about a Beer Tasting that happens every Saturday at Disney’s Contemporary Resort! I made some phone calls to find out the deets, and we’ve got ’em right here!
Visit The Wave’s lounge to sample complimentary beer each Saturday, from 3-4 p.m.. Three certified organic beers by Orlando Brewing Company are provided, making this a great stop on your monorail crawl.
Don’t like beer? While your friends are sipping complimentary brew, order a screw-top wine (ya gotta pay for it, though).
While this activity is advertised in the Disney’s Contemporary Resort (and Bay Lake Tower) Recreation Activities Guide, you do not need to be a guest of the resort to participate. Of course, the beer tasting is only open to [Read more…]
