Editor’s Note: The menu screenshot below appeared on the Disney World website briefly on October 6th, but the current menu has changed back to the Macaroni and Cheese dishes. We’ve been checking weekly at Friar’s Nook for the updates! Current projected date for the menu change is February.
It seems as though BIG menu changes are on the way to the little Friar’s Nook in Magic Kingdom!

Previously home to over-the-top Macaroni and Cheese dishes, the Friar may be trading Loaded Mac for Loaded TOTS!
We know you’re out there, Lighthouse Sandwich fans.
And, as you can tell from the title of this post, we’ve got some not-so-great news for you.
For those of you who may be a little lost on this particular topic, though, allow me to explain. Magic Kingdom’s Columbia Harbour House is well known and loved for providing tasty Counter Service fare, with a few not-so-typical choices like the Chicken and Fish Platter and Shrimp Mac and Cheese.
Even these, however, never reached quite the cult status of the Harbour House’s two longtime signature sandwiches: the Anchors Aweigh Sandwich and the Lighthouse Sandwich (okay, the Lobster Roll comes close, but still…). Many guests seem to have a dedicated favorite between the two.
We can inform diehard fans of the Anchors Aweigh tuna sandwich that it remains safe on the menu.

Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for the Lighthouse Sandwich. The hummus, tomato and broccoli slaw sandwich – served on the same multigrain bread as the Anchors Aweigh – is no longer available at Columbia Harbour House, and Cast Members informed us that as far as they are aware it’s not coming back. We’re talkin’ WAFFLES, y’all.
And if we’re talkin’ waffles, more often than not we’re also talkin’ about Sleepy Hollow Refreshments.
You see, long before Chicken and Waffles starting popping up pretty much everywhere in Disney World from Backlot Express to the Fantasy Fare Food Truck (even the Polynesian’s Captain Cook’s had an unexpected take on them for a time), Sleepy Hollow understood the Power of the Waffle. While specific waffle items have come and gone from the menu, this location is currently home to its original Big Three: the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich, a Breakfast Waffle (currently served with egg and cheese), and the Fresh Fruit Waffle Sandwich with Chocolate-Hazlenut Spread… which we all simply refer to as the “Nutella Waffle Sandwich. Oh, yeah, and it’s got Fruit, too.”
Or maybe that’s just me?
Anyway, we’re revisiting the Nutella Waffle Sandwich today because… well, frankly because I wanted one on my last trip! And I thought I’d share it again today with you. After all, even though the Nutella Waffle never left the Sleepy Hollow menu, that doesn’t mean things here can’t change (Case in Point: the return of the Sweet and Spicy Chicken Waffle Sandwich after it was taken off the menu for a while — though good news: the price on the item has actually gone down, making it a better value). It’s the day you’ve been waiting for all year…
TOMORROW — July 19th — is NATIONAL HOT DOG DAY!!!
Okay, so maybe you didn’t even know that was, like, a thing. But the crew at Casey’s Corner in Magic Kingdom sure knows, because Casey’s is synonymous with one thing and one thing only: HOT DOGS!
So, how is Casey’s marking the occasion? By serving up “The Triple Play”!
For ONE DAY ONLY, guests can take their place in the batting order (the lines 😉 ) at Casey’s to order a shareable trio of Casey’s famous all-beef hot dogs: the Macaroni and Cheese Dog, the Buffalo Chicken Dog, and the Chili-Cheese Dog.

This offering is in addition to the recent arrival of Hand-Dipped Corn Dogs in the Magic Kingdom, found at Sleepy Hollow. If you’re celebrating the Big Day in a different park ;-D, your Hot Dog stops include (but aren’t limited to) Min & Bill’s Dockside Diner in Hollywood Studios and Refreshment Cool Post in Epcot. But don’t forget that Animal Kingdom’s Restaurantosaurus boasts a Premium Toppings Bar to top your hot dog, so right after Casey’s, Restaurantosaurus tops our list.
It’s time for a fabulous Disney Food Hack! This one’s for all my fellow Ice Cream Sandwich lovers out there — but it’s nothing like the ones you can already snag around the World at spots like Sleepy Hollow and Hollywood Scoops.

If you’ve been following along on any of our trips to Pandora — The World of AVATAR, the newest land in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, then you are already familiar with the new Satu’li Canteen.
Along with an entirely new array of eats for Animal Kingdom guests, something else made its debut at Satu’li Canteen: the Mobile Order process, available via the My Disney Experience app(you can visit our Mobile Order Page here). Mobile Order enables guests to pre-order and pre-pay for their food at specific Counter Service locations, allowing them to bypass the ordering lines in the restaurant and pick up their food directly from a designated counter.

And now, Mobile Order is on its way to select Magic Kingdom restaurants! According to wdwmagic.com, five Magic Kingdom Counter Service locations will begin to utilize Mobile Order this summer. Look for Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, Pinocchio Village Haus, Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe, and Columbia Harbour House to pop up on the list of locations you will be able to select soon. Some of our favorite restaurants in all of Walt Disney World are counter service spots, and that’s definitely true in Magic Kingdom. They’re tops for great food and great theming in equal measure — and they’re the subject of our latest DFB YouTube Video to share with you today.
Be Our Guest Restaurant
From French-inspired cuisine at Be Our Guest for breakfast and lunch, to dreamy Corn Dog Nuggets at Casey’s Corner, to yummy snacks at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments, there are truly some fantastic eats at Disney World’s flagship park.
If you’re planning a visit to the Magic Kingdom from January 12 through February 22, 2017, you may be very interested to find out about a single-day Dining Plan that will enter a test phase in the park during those dates!

According to wdwmagic.com, Disney Dine-on-the-Go will be available for purchase throughout the test phase. Guests may purchase the plan at Magic Kingdom Vacation Planning Booths. While cost information is currently unavailable, it is anticipated that pricing will include both adult and child options. It’s a New Year!!!
And to ring it in, there are some NEW GOURMET HOT DOGS coming to one of our very favorite Counter Service spots… Casey’s Corner in the Magic Kingdom!
Casey’s is, of course, THE quintessential place to enjoy a dog in Disney World. While you can always grab a standard hot dog to top at the condiment bar, Casey’s has also long been home to the classic Chili-Cheese Hot Dog and the less traditional Barbecue Slaw Dog (in addition to the fan favorite Corn Dog Nuggets).
But you may notice something new on the menu during your next visit to Casey’s… and any subsequent visits after that. Because a new rotating specialty menu will feature new Hot Dogs every month.
