Be Our Guest Restaurant Opens December 6, 2012, in Disney World’s Fantasyland

: Reservations for Be Our Guest can be made starting on August 20th by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Online reservations begin August 22. The first available dinner reservation is for November 19th.

Finally, we have the details on an opening date for Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern in Walt Disney World’s New Fantasyland!

This expanded Magic Kingdom land will feature new rides and attractions as well as two highly anticipated restaurants.

Be Our Guest Restaurant

Starting December 6, 2012, enjoy an enchanted meal surrounded by the lush decor of the Beast’s Castle in the Beauty and the Beast area of the New Fantasyland.

Guests will be able to dine counter-service (fast food) for lunch and table-service (sit-down) for dinner, experiencing one of three magical dining rooms: the Library, the West Wing (home of the enchanted rose), or the golden-colored Ballroom that we all remember from the movie.

New in Disney World: Mickey Ear Hat Brownies, Chocolate-Covered Pineapple, and More!

During my recent Walt Disney World visit, my first stop in the Magic Kingdom was, as always, the Main Street Confectionery.

Most of the usual yummies were right where they should be (I’m talking to you Krispie Mickey Heads and mint chocolate fudge). But I did notice a few recent additions to the Confectionery offerings.

First up in the refrigerator case, I noticed something labeled “Brownies $3.95.”

These cute-as-a-button treats are shaped like little Mickey ear hats. Fun! They come in four flavors: raspberry (red swirl), mint (green swirl), all chocolate (white swirl), or, gasp, English toffee (toffee bits on top). I opted to try the mint version.

Guest Review: Pinocchio Village Haus — Now With Flatbreads!

We’re welcoming back guest author Melissa Sue Sorrells Galley with a review of Pinocchio Village Haus. And since the new menu was recently revealed, we’ll also include a review of one of the new flatbreads available!

After recovering from One More Disney Day, I headed back into the Magic Kingdom where I found myself exiting Mickey’s PhilharMagic to the realization that I was starving.

That’s when a Cast Member with a puppet waved at me, and I knew what I had to do.

No strings!

Atmosphere

Tucked between the new Fantasyland construction walls and it’s a small world, Pinocchio Village Haus is a bit confusing. It’s in Fantasyland, and the food is Italian, but the restaurant itself is based on the Bavarian architecture that Walt and Lillian Disney were so fond of.

In fact, it’s set in a little German village, where there’s oompah playing over the speakers and you order lunch in what appears to be a charming courtyard.

Snack Series: Orange Bird Souvenir Cup at Sunshine Tree Terrace

Along with the awesome Citrus Swirl snack, the classic Orange Bird is roosting once more at Sunshine Tree Terrace!

For more info about the Orange Bird and his re-debut in Disney World, check out this great video from the folks at Disney!!

The souvenir cup sells for $7 and can be filled with any soda. (Kind of a steep price for such a little bird cup, but can you put a price on history? ;-D)

Model Shots: Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern

Thanks again to reader and super Disney Food Scrapbooker Heather W. for some awesome photos from the Magic Kingdom Fantasyland Model, currently in residence at Disney’s Hollywood Studios!

Of course, our biggest focus here are the upcoming restaurants — Be Our Guest Restaurant and Gaston’s Tavern — scheduled to open in “late 2012.”

We see Beast’s Castle looming in the upper right-hand corner!

This wall serves as the gateway to the new area. Here is where Belle’s Cottage where “Enchanted Tales with Belle” will take place. I can almost see Belle strolling through with a book in hand!

Nestled at the base of the Beast’s Castle is Gaston’s Tavern. As guests approach the pub in this French village, the impressive fountain highlights Gaston’s super-ego.

Inside this counter-service location, a huge portrait will further showcase Gaston’s love — of himself! After the tavern, venture across the way to Bonjour! Village Gifts.

Yes, we are all eagerly anticipating the opening of the imagineering marvel, Be Our Guest Restaurant! We’ve seen a sneak peek of the ballroom with a breathtaking mural, and read descriptions of the various dining rooms.

Atmosphere

Liberty Tree Tavern is located in the Liberty Square area of Disney World’s Magic Kingdom. The lobby has somewhat of a “lodge” feel to it. There is a lot of exposed wood and very open spaces.

When we visited, the computers were down, causing several delays and the restaurant to be extremely crowded. After waiting outside for our table to be ready, we were summoned to the lobby and taken to our table.

Review: Tony’s Town Square

Today, we’re revisiting a Magic Kingdom institution, Tony’s Town Square for lunch!

In the past, Tony’s Town Square hasn’t wowed me. Decent food and a great view of the Magic Kingdom Town Square (and any parades going on out there!), but nothing to really pull me back to that spot. Read on to see if anything has changed…

Atmosphere

The first thing that we noticed as we arrived for our Advanced Dining Reservation is that Tony’s has a brand new sign out front, depicting the jolly restaurateur himself! I knew this would be there after the recent renovations, but I really liked it!

One of the biggest draws of this Magic Kingdom hotspot continues to be the patio seating area. Tony’s is one of the few table service restaurants that offers an outdoor dining experience; and even on super hot Florida days, this is a great place to chill and enjoy a bite to eat!
