We had a case of wanderlust this week, and instead of getting out the passport and packing, we just hopped over to spend the day in Epcot. Our journey started with some time spent in Future World, followed by a trip around the World Showcase. And boy, did we find a lot new eats and buys for you on this “trip”!
You’re Going to Love This! “Cute Food Art” Featuring Iconic Disney Snacks!
Oh. My. Goodness! I have something that I have been absolutely ITCHING to share! And it’s something YOU can totally enjoy whether or not you are in Disneyland or Disney World. Because this amazing artwork by Donna Yan will help you celebrate many of YOUR favorite iconic Disney foods from your own home!
Donna Yan’s prints are, in her words, “Cute Food Art Inspired by My Travels.” And while those travels primarily take her to Disneyland, Hawaii, and Japan, Disney World frequenters will find plenty to adore here, too.
For instance, these too-cute-for-words Mickey Premium Ice Cream Bars can be appreciated on both coasts!
Same with the Dole Whip print 🙂 .
Spotted: Super Fun T-Shirts Celebrating Disney Snacks
We’ve been spotting some pretty terrific food-themed T-shirts around Disney World and Disneyland merchandise locations lately, and I couldn’t resist sharing some of these fun finds with you today. Because YOUR favorite iconic Disney snack may be represented on some of this garb, and I’d hate for you to miss a chance to pick one up on your next Disney World trip!
If Mickey Waffles, Pretzels, Turkey Legs, and Dole Whips (along with The Haunted Mansion, Fireworks, and Mickey himself) make up your BEST DAY EVER, then check out this tee!
Now, the Turkey Leg shirt has been around for a while now…
Review: Pumpkin Spice Pretzel at the Pretzel Garden in Disney’s Hollywood Studios
If you are spending any part of this holiday season in Disney World (which has already officially kicked off with events like Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party), I’m just going to assume that a visit to the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights is on your vacation itinerary.
This special holiday event has become even more of a Must-Do this year, with the fact this holiday season is the final chance to watch the Lights dance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Before the Lights even come on, though, lots of folks like to stake out their spot on the Streets of America to wait for the moment when the Lights begin to shine. Fortunately, there are some snacking opportunities to help you pass the time with some tasty treats!
As always, the Pretzel Garden opens up in advance of the show, serving up… well, pretzels, of course. Churros, glazed almonds and pecans, and a few beverages round out the list.
I spotted the ol’ standbys at this little kiosk right away: the Cream Cheese Pretzel and the Mickey-shaped Pretzel.
But there was also an addition to the pretzel selections on the menu: the Pumpkin Spice Pretzel. [Read more…]
Dining in Disneyland: Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Covered Pretzels
Attention pumpkin fans!!! I’ve got something you might want to see… I give you Pumpkin Spice Chocolate Covered Pretzels!
This is the first time that I’ve seen these during Halloween Time, but I usually don’t pay too much attention to the prepackaged treats. I’m more of a grab something from the bakery case kinda gal!
Review: Two NEW Baked Pasta Dishes at Animal Kingdom’s Beastly Kiosk
Well, we knew things would be changing at Animal Kingdom in short order, but I don’t know if we quite expected this…
As the park revs up for the much-anticipated (and delayed) reopening of Flame Tree Barbecue in early July, the kiosks that have been serving as temporary locations for Flame Tree items are starting to change again, too.
That includes Beastly Kiosk, which you’ll find in Discovery Island just outside of the entrance to Asia. [Editor’s note: Since the posting of this article, the Beastly Kiosk has been renamed, and is now Eight Spoon Cafe.] This small snack stand has been serving up three Flame Tree entrees, which was a definite departure from its typical menu of Mickey and Jalapeño Cheese-stuffed Pretzels (along with the occasional appearance of Corn Dogs on peak crowd days).
Well, the pretzels have indeed returned (woot!), along with two brand new items. Beastly Kiosk is now serving Baked Pasta Marinara with Mozzarella and — wait for it — BAKED LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE!
What?!??!
Why delay? Let’s dive right into that Lobster Mac, shall we?
Let’s talk portion first: if you’ve visited any booths at Epcot during the Food and Wine Festival or Flower and Garden Festival, you’ll be familiar with this size dish. They’re definitely on the smaller size and not full-sized entrees, which is why you’ll see them listed as a snack credit (!!!!!!!! LOBSTER MAC IS A SNACK CREDIT!!!!!!!) on the Disney Dining Plan. If you’re not familiar with the size, hopefully that picture of my fork near the dish will give you some perspective.
With a dish this rich, the
Happy Hour: Block & Hans Craft Beer Kiosk in Epcot’s America Pavilion
We have some fun news for all of you beer lovers out there!
We spied this new Craft Beer Kiosk in Epcot’s America Pavilion a while back for the first time.
Today, we’re back to tell you all about it, and to give you a closer look!
Block & Hans Craft Beer Kiosk
Block & Hans have apparently been in business since 1612, supplying fine ale to the colonies. 🙂 And now, you can enjoy a beer from their menu while strolling the World Showcase Promenade at Epcot.
You’ll find beer representing many different parts of the country on the menu here. Angry Orchard is also available for those who prefer a nice alternative to beer — Hard Cider.
Were kind of intrigued that they haven’t included any local Florida craft beers, though — you can find them on many menus around Walt Disney World.
Form follows function, as they’ve chosen to “decorate” with empty beer bottles. It’s a great way to see some of the cool label art.
But all I can think of is…who got to participate in the “Let’s empty some bottles so we can decorate with them!” campaign? Because I’d really like to sign up for that team.
Fortunately, the bottles that you’ll actually consume are on ice, just as they should be on a sunny Florida day.
But — to accompany your fine beverage — Pretzels! As far as the eye can see!! And you have the full pretzel panoply here — or just about! You can choose [Read more…]
Spotted! Mickey Waffle Magnets and MORE!
Check it out!!! We’ve found the latest must-have souvenir for Disney food fans like us: a few of our favorite Disney snacks… in magnet form!
As you can see, these aren’t just any magnets. These pieces look so realistic that it’s almost like taking one of these beloved iconic treats home with you!
Let’s start with a couple of major fan favorites: Churros and Turkey Legs!
I think these look spot-on, right down to the Disney paper wrapping!
And you certainly can’t pay homage to Disney snacks without having one (or four 😉 ) Mickey-shaped goodies, can you? Of course, there are Mickey Premium Bars…
And Mickey Krispy Treats (chocolate dipped, of course)! Almost good enough to eat… . [Read more…]
