Disney World may start celebrating spooky season early, but it’s not officially Halloween until something specific happens.

Frightfully festive decor has been up in Magic Kingdom for a while now, and we’ve even seen a ton of Halloween merch drop in the parks too. But, something has been missing from Magic Kingdom’s spooky decor — until now!
When you think of Disney World at Halloween, you likely imagine the classic glowing Mickey Pumpkin Wreaths illuminating your walk towards the castle.

Well, Disney is currently celebrating its 50th anniversary, and last year the Mickey Pumpkin Wreaths were pulled from Magic Kingdom and replaced with Cinderella Carriage Pumpkin Wreaths. This year, the Cinderella Carriage Pumpkin Wreaths returned and our hearts fell a little thinking about the possibility that the Mickey Pumpkin Wreaths might not return this year. But GUESS WHAT PEOPLE! We have a big update for ya!Â

Have you noticed that it just doesn’t FEEL the same in Disney World this year?? The “most spookiest time of the year” seems to have been pushed aside in favor of that other big thing that happened in October — the 50th Anniversary. Not to mention Christmas decorations (!!!) are already showing up on the scene! Honestly, it doesn’t feel like the Halloween we have come to look forward to at Disney World in past years. It got us wondering…did Disney World get cheated out of Halloween this year?

We know, it’s only July, but Disney starts celebrating EARLY. The first night of BOO Bash (which is replacing Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party this year) is August 10th. With that being less than 3 weeks away, and not a pumpkin in sight yet, we’re wondering when we might see Halloween decorations start showing up in Magic Kingdom.
