We’re back! Are you surprised? We have unexpected news this week from Disney World.
If you visited Disney World this week you might have experienced technical issues, creepy fog, and even closed Monorail lines. Sound fun? Let’s go over everything!
Disney World has a TON of merchandise you can buy during your vacation!
Stores have everything from clothes to toys to Christmas ornaments. And, while we love doing some shopping when we’re in the parks or at Disney Springs, we don’t love the long checkout lines that are pretty common. Luckily, Disney has introduced a new Mobile Merchandise Checkout system at a few stores, and the system was just added in another location!
If you’re planning on visiting Disney World soon, odds are you’ll use some form of technology while there.
Maybe you’ll use your phone to make Genie+ and Individual Attraction Selection passes. Maybe you’ll use a mobile device to place a mobile order. Or maybe you’ll use your MagicBand (and the technology built into that) to scan yourself into the parks and pay for items during your stay. Well, today some of Disney’s various forms of technologies seem to be experiencing issues, and it’s a very good reminder of what you need to be prepared for in the future.
Picture it: you’ve got your plush, ears, spirit jersey, and more in your hands. Then, you walk to the registers and realize there is an ENORMOUS checkout line.
That’s where Mobile Merchandise Checkout can help! With this mobile option, you can pay for all of your items and then quickly visit a Mobile Checkout desk before quickly and easily going on your way. So far, the system has only been tested in select stores, but soon you’ll be able to SKIP the long checkout lines at more spots!
It has been a wild ride since Disney Genie+ was first announced for Disney World.
Before Disney Genie+ launched, we were told that it would be $15 per ticket, per day and that guests would only be able to book one attraction at a time. That latter part turned out to be not entirely true, as we were introduced to the world of “stacking” Genie+ reservations and the 120-minute rule. And now, all of that is changing!
Disney loves taking advantage of new technology to change how guests experience the parks.
The My Disney Experience app allows you to do things like look at wait times, maps, menus, and more. And now, with Disney Genie on the app, it can even plan your day for you! Another feature of the app is Disney MagicMobile. This system acts as your ticket and allows you to enter the theme parks, lets you connect Disney PhotoPass images to your account, and gets you into the Lightning Lanes of rides (if you’re using Genie+). And now, MagicMobile has added a new feature!
Disney World’s 50th anniversary has come with a lot of new merchandise!
We’ve seen a bunch of Minnie Ears, several different collections, and special things like popcorn buckets and balloons. One of those items was the 50th Anniversary Celebration Minnie Mouse Sipper. It was in Magic Kingdom on October 1st, but quickly sold out. Now, it’s coming back to the park, but in an unusual way.
Are you visiting EPCOT today or in the near future? Well, we have news that could impact your day.
Sometimes rides close down in Disney World, and it’s not possible to predict when or where those closures will happen. We do know, however, that a popular EPCOT ride will be closing early on select dates this week and we’re sharing all the details you need to know here.
My Disney Experience has been experiencing a lot of changes lately.
With the introduction of Disney Genie, there is a whole new section of the app you can utilize to see projected wait times, make Lightning Lane reservations, check on dining availability, and more. And today, we noticed something else that’s new on My Disney Experience.
Disney+ Day is coming up soon — it’ll be here on November 12th, 2021.
On this day, Disney is releasing a lot of new content on Disney+, and some existing movies that were only available through Premium will be on there for free. But that’s not all Disney is doing to celebrate on this day. Disney+ subscribers are getting some special perks in the parks as well! [Read more…]
