Lightning Lane changes are coming!
This past week we got lots of information about the holidays at Disney World during Halfway to the Holidays, and we also got information about new changes coming to Disney World’s paid skip-the-line service. It feels like we finally just got Genie+ down after saying goodbye to the FastPass+ system, but now that is all about to change again on July 24th.Â
Here at DFB, we know a thing or two about visiting Disney World. We visit every day, and we have learned a lot of tips and tricks!

It is an exciting day at Disney World! There are lots of new changes debuting including the beginning of the 30th Anniversary Celebration of The Lion King at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, a new meet and greet at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and the grand opening of CommuniCore Hall & Plaza in EPCOT.
The EPCOT map got a big update!
We had the opportunity to get a sneak peek at this new space last night, and now the CommuniCore Hall and Plaza area is finally open for everyone TODAY.

If you’ve visited Disney World recently, you’ll understand just how important the My Disney Experience app is.

The app is pretty much the handiest tool you can have in Disney World as it pretty much does EVERYTHING for you. You can check in to your hotel, unlock your hotel room door, mobile order food, store your tickets, check ride wait times, get Lightning lane access to rides through Genie+, join virtual queues, and so much more. Okay, well, there was one thing it didn’t do: although you can store your credit card details in the app for payment, you couldn’t save a Disney Rewards card number. Well, that has finally changed!
IMPORTANT NOTE!! Major changes are being made to the Genie+ system in Disney World starting July 24th, 2024. This post reflects the current Genie+ system that will remain in place through July 23rd, 2024. We use Genie+ a LOT in Disney World, and we’ve gotten pretty good at working the system to our advantage in the past few years.
Genie+
Genie+ can feel a bit complicated with its varying prices and rules about when and how and what you can book Lightning Lane-wise, but it’s definitely possible to conquer and use to make your vacation more successful. As people who’ve used Genie+ dozens (if not hundreds) of times, today we’re sharing our list of things that Genie+ experts would NOT do in Disney World!
We’ve seen all kinds of Disney World park maps over the years. We’ve seen familiar Disney characters grace the front cover. We’ve seen the iconic Cinderella Castle take center stage on old maps. We’ve even seen regular old Disney World visitors (or Disney models…how do we get that job?!) earn a spot on the front of the map. Talk about a big honor! But Disney also has a digital park map that comes in handy when you’re on the go.

Not to sound dramatic, but we use the My Disney Experience app pretty much every single day. We’re in the parks every day of the year, so between all the Mobile Orders we have placed, the wait times we have checked, and the character meet-and-greet times we have confirmed, that app is like our holy grail. And recently, the My Disney Experience app just CHANGED!Â
If you are a fan of All-Star Movies Resort, we have some good and bad news for you. The good news is that one of the amenities will be getting a refresh, but the bad news is that means it will need to suspend some operations for a bit.Â

All-Star Movies Resort is a value resort located at Walt Disney World, that is perfect if you are looking for a more inexpensive hotel option with many of the great perks that Disney World hotel guests get. It is part of a trio of All-Star Resorts which also includes All-Star Sports and All-Star Music.
