Disney just announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will open EARLY in Magic Kingdom, in the summer of 2024! That means we’ll get to go down the bayou with Tiana in just a few months. The new ride, themed to Disney’s The Princess and the Frog movie, is replacing Splash Mountain in both Frontierland in Magic Kingdom and Critter Country in Disneyland. Splash Mountain closed in January 2023, and Disney previously announced that Tiana’s Bayou Adventure would open in “late 2024.” Then, they started removing the “late” language, leading us to believe that the ride could open sooner rather than later. So many Disney fans, us included, are so excited for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to arrive in Magic Kingdom and Disneyland this year.

We know that the ride follows Tiana’s restaurant adventure after the film’s end, as she gets ready to throw a Mardi Gras party for the whole town. But she’s missing the final ingredient and needs help to find it. We’ve also gotten sneak peeks at other aspects of the ride as we get closer and closer to its, currently unannounced, opening date. But there’s one part of the ride specifically we’ve been really curious about, and now we have some commentary on it — what happens after the drop?
There’s a lot that we still don’t know about the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure ride in Disney World and Disneyland.

The new ride is replacing Splash Mountain in both parks and will feature a storyline themed to The Princess and the Frog, with characters like Tiana, Louis, and Mama Odie. We’re still waiting to learn when exactly the ride will open (although we know it’ll be sometime in late 2024) and whether we’ll be getting a Tiana-themed restaurant in Disney World like the one that’s coming to Disneyland. But now, Disney has revealed a crucial detail about the upcoming attraction.
