Chef José Andrés has been nominated for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize for disaster relief work through World Central Kitchen, the non-profit organization he founded in 2010.
According to TIME magazine, in the eight years since World Central Kitchen was founded, hot meals have been served “to millions in disaster zones and difficult situations.” Among these, Chef Andrés with World Central Kitchen served over 3.5 million meals in Puerto Rico following Hurricane Maria. And, more recently, World Central Kitchen has been feeding victims of the wildfires in California.
