The World of Disney in Disney Springs is taking you back to the Pleasure Island days with a new hat!
Whether your spot was The Adventurers Club, Mannequins, or maybe even 8TRAX, you can declare your love for the clubs that made up what was once Pleasure Island (in what was once Downtown Disney but is now Disney Springs 😉 ) with this topper. [Read more…]
Here at DFB, we LOVE taking you with us as we drink around the World!
Since there are sooo many options to pick from, sometimes you want more than one drink. And although we’ve seen fish bowls like the Storm Chaser at Hurricane Hanna’s, The Seven Seas Lagoon at The Wave, and the Solar Eclipse Planet Bowl at Planet Hollywood, we’ve got an even BIGGER way to keep the drinks coming all night long in Disney Springs…
Just a friendly note to let you know that you’ve got through Sunday to raise a glass with an old Pleasure Island favorite at Dockside Margaritas in Disney Springs!
Once again this year, “throwback” drinks from the ol’ Downtown Disney Pleasure Island days have returned for a very limited run, according @DisneySprings on Twitter. From now through September 30th, four favorite cocktails — including the Kungaloosh —are available for $9 each. [Read more…]
Care to take a walk — or a sip? — down Memory Lane?
Then join us for few drinks at Dockside Margaritas in Disney Springs!
Why??? Because the outdoor Margarita Bar located in the Marketplace is currently serving drinks that used to be served at Pleasure Island. For those unfamiliar, Pleasure Island was once a section of Disney World’s shopping, dining, and entertainment district — then known as Downtown Disney — that put the emphasis on entertainment, offering nightlife for adult guests. Dance clubs included (among others) the 70s and 80s themed 8TRAX, the BET Soundstage, and Mannequins; while comedy spots included the Comedy Warehouse and the much beloved and dearly missed Adventurer’s Club.
So if beverage names like Leisure Suit, Hoopla, Thriller, Punch Line, Funmeister and Kungaloosh mean anything to you, then you’re going to want to belly up with us today at Dockside Margaritas!

“An Adventurer’s Life is Best!”
If you’re among the legions who deeply miss the Adventurer’s Club, you will soon have a way to get a taste of it back. Wdwnt.com reports that Dockside Margaritas — located in the Marketplace of Disney Springs — will soon be serving a few signature drinks from the Pleasure Island days… and we were able to confirm this news directly with Dockside Margaritas!
Look for back-in-the-day drinks to include the Adventurer’s Club Kungaloosh and the non-alcoholic Emil’s Strawberry Colada.
You can also look for other Pleasure Island club drinks to be featured on a rotating weekly basis, including the Bell Bottom, Techn-O, and Thriller from 8-Trax, Hoopla from Mannequins, and Punch Line from Comedy Warehouse, among others. (And if the Leisure Suit comes back, I’m moving in.)
Even better, these specialty drinks may be featured with a $9 price tag as part of a #ThrowbackThursday promo (non-alcoholic options will be priced at $5) from June 29th through September 28th.
You may also see the drinks available on other days of the week… just not with the Thursdays-only $9 price tag. In fact, the Bartender we spoke with believes that the beverages maaaay appear at Dockside Margaritas as early as this weekend (though she could not confirm 100%). We do know for certain, though, that they will be appearing for sure by Thursday, June 29th, as confirmed by the @disneysprings Twitter account.
In any case, they’re on the way! [Read more…]

Recently, I walked by a kiosk in Pleasure Island. The Adventurers Hut sits right next to what used to be a popular Downtown Disney nightlife spot (that many of us knew well).
Perhaps the Adventurers Hut is supposed to remind us of the beloved and departed Adventurers Club (a moment of silence, please), but I’m not sure it’s helpful. 😉
Trader Sam’s in Disneyland comes a little closer, but without the copius entertainment and multiple rooms. Will they bring a similar establishment back to Walt Disney World? Time will tell… .
Although this kiosk is a [Read more…]

We’re welcoming back Melissa Sue Sorrells Galley with a review of Cookes of Dublin!
I found myself sitting alone in my room at Pop Century with a free evening. It was getting late, and the parks were closing early, so I decided to take myself on a date to Downtown Disney.
When I got off the bus at Pleasure Island, I had no plans for dinner, but I knew I was hungry. The line for Raglan Road was daunting, and I wasn’t in the mood for Fulton’s, so I headed into Cookes of Dublin.
This hidden quick service gem is located right on the water at Disney’s Pleasure Island. You might walk right by it on your way to the Marketplace without even noticing it if you weren’t weak with hunger. But next time you head to Pleasure Island, make sure to keep your bellies empty and your eyes open because Cookes is worth [Read more…]

Disney Food for Families columnist Erin Foster reports on the brand new concession stand in Orlando’s Downtown Disney AMC theaters!
Finding ourselves at Downtown Disney with time on our hands, my daughters and I decided to take in a film at the AMC theater there. I must confess that our secondary reason for this decision was the desire to see a film. The primary reason we decided to go there was to check out the AMC’s new concession situation.
I had read about the new snack set-up here on the Food Blog and we had a sneak peek at the incredible Coke Freestyle machine during a quick visit to the (gasp) Universal Studios counter service restaurant Richter’s Burgers, so we were excited to dive in.
Concession Stand Overhaul
The revamped food service concept at the AMC is different from anything I had previously encountered at a movie theater. Here you do not walk up to a counter, place your order, and have a clerk hand you items. Instead, [Read more…]
