Well, folks, the live-action version of The Lion King is officially in theaters!
And in celebration, Disney has released a bunch of new Lion King stuff around Disney’s Animal Kingdom, including a brand-new Dooney & Bourke collection and a limited edition MagicBand! So, follow along with us today as we explore all of the new Lion King items throughout the park!

We’re excited to head back to the location, but fair warning…things look a little different this time around.
Circle of Flavors: Harambe at Night,
an exciting new dining event coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, will begin on July 24 and we can hardly wait! On select nights from July 24-October 23, attendees will embark on a 3-hour progressive dining adventure in this beautiful park.

This summer will bring the reopening of a classic Animal Kingdom experience with an all-new offering! Rafiki’s Planet Watch — which includes Conservation Station, the Affection Section, and the Wildlife Express — will reopen on July 11, 2019.
And an all-new experience will make its debut as part of the park’s celebration of Disney’s “The Lion King!” The Animation Experience at Conservation Station will offer guests the chance to learn how live animals inspired some of the most iconic characters from the film. Additionally, guests will learn more about the park’s star residents — the animals! — AND “create a personalized piece of Disney art through an instructor-led animation class.” Possible characters guests may animate will include Simba, Zazu, Pumbaa, Timon and more. Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closed since October for a refurbishment. Disney has announced that this space will reopen this summer, including a few new enhancements.
Rafiki’s Planet Watch will still include the Affection Section and guests will be able to get to and from the space by traveling on the Wildlife Express. [Read more…]
Our day in Animal Kingdom was jam-packed with new food, menu changes, construction, and more. But, our favorite part of the day was stopping at the Donald’s Dino-Bash Dance Party and hearing the DJ play Monster Mash and other Halloween songs mixed in with regular pop songs!

Even though Pandora has been open for over a year, Animal Kingdom is still a park undergoing some changes and construction. We spotted quite a few construction walls up around the park this week.
On top of the construction there was the announcement that Rafiki’s Planet Watch is closing October 20 for refurbishment until Spring of 2019.
Great news for anyone who was disappointed to hear that Rafiki’s Planet Watch in Disney World’s Animal Kingdom would be closing in late October.
The spot will indeed begin a refurbishment after October 20th. However, Orlando Sentinel is reporting that a Disney spokesperson has confirmed that Rafiki’s Planet Watch will be reopening in the Spring of 2019 after all! [Read more…]
