Tom Sawyer Island
Tom Sawyer Island is a walk-through attraction in Frontierland. You take a log raft to the island, where you can meander through trails, cross bridges, and explore caves. It’s a great place to bring little ones who need to burn off some energy — no long lines to wait in here! But there’s one problem: recently, part of this attraction went MISSING.
Disney World occasionally closes rides and restaurants for refurbishments and updates. Next week, there are planned closures in three of the four Disney World parks.

Don’t worry too much, though — so far, each park only has ONE temporary closure (although more unplanned closures could pop up if rides experience technical difficulties or there’s bad weather in the area). When we head to the Disney World theme parks each morning, we usually see a few temporary closures impacting some of the rides and attractions. For example, Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom has had a couple of rough mornings recently and was down for a few hours a couple of days ago. Spaceship Earth in EPCOT was having trouble as well, and it was closed for a couple of hours in the morning two days in a row.

These temporary closures generally only last a few hours, and you can keep checking the My Disney Experience app to see when the ride reopens that same day. However, some closures last for days, weeks, or even months. Disney generally plans those longer closures well in advance so that you’re aware of them before your visit. There’s a LOT of planning that goes into a great Disney World trip. You’ll need to buy tickets and make park pass reservations, book some dining reservations, choose the best hotel for your group, and decide whether or not to purchase Genie+ during your vacation.
