Not only did the WGA (Writer’s Guild of America) go on strike (although that strike is now over), the Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) also went on strike in July and has been on strike ever since. Well, we’ve got some good news: a tentative deal has been approved by the union and the strike is over.
Actors and writers are currently on strike in Hollywood, with the writers’ strike starting in May and the actors’ strike starting on June 13th. As a result, several film projects have been put on hold.

Disney CEO Bob Iger previously commented about the possibility of an actors’ strike (before the strike was officially called), and he received backlash for his comments, which some deemed to be “out of touch” and “tone-deaf.” As the criticism began to spread, many Disney fans wondered if Iger would change his tune about the strikes. In Disney’s third-quarter earning call, the CEO once again commented on this situation.
Disney has quite a few different films coming out in the near future.

One of the newest ones coming out soon is the Haunted Mansion film on July 28th, and we know that Toy Story is coming back into theaters for a limited time. However, it seems that the release dates of multiple upcoming films could be affected due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes.
Although both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA are on strike, Disney still held the premiere for its new movie, Haunted Mansion, based on the Disney Parks ride of the same name.

Disney’s Haunted Mansion movie premieres on July 28th. Although a movie premiere was set to happen in Disneyland on July 15th, the SAG-AFTRA strike prevented the film’s cast from attending the premiere. The premiere DID happen, though, but Disney replaced the actors with characters.
