By now, you’ve probably heard the big news about Shanghai Disneyland’s official reopening date.
But you might be wondering where that leaves us here in the United States. Just how far away are our major theme parks from reopening?
While we’re growing more used to our new normal with every passing day at home, we’re still having trouble imagining what the parks will be like when they reopen.
We’ve already explored which new protocols Disney might use to ensure only healthy guests are allowed entry, and we recently got more information about how Shanghai Disneyland will handle their reopening on May 11th.
Armed with information about how other theme parks and vacation destinations are handling reopenings, we may finally be getting a few answers to our questions about what Disney World will be like when it reopens.

It’s hard not to get wrapped up in your Disney World vacation. There’s excitement to be explored in almost every nook and cranny of the parks, not to mention the chance to run into some of your favorite Disney characters, snack on the treats that you love, go on rides, watch parades, fireworks — the list goes on and on!
But as wonderful as all this stuff can be, believe it or not, you could be inadvertently ruining the magic for others at the parks without even realizing it! We’re letting you in on some major no-nos we highly recommend you try to avoid!
While Shanghai Disneyland Park has been temporarily shut down since late January, we’re starting to see some sparks of life returning to the far-away park across the sea! While the park itself remains closed for the time being, last week Shanghai Disneyland began conducting simulations to try out their new health and safety measures(you can read more about some of the safety measures here). Now it looks like the park is testing out its nighttime fireworks spectacular, Ignite the Dream!
Shanghai Disney Resort in China was the first Disney property to be affected by the global health crisis. The resort was closed in late January.
Being the first property affected also means that Shanghai is the furthest along in the course of the crisis and could have a chance to open a little sooner than the rest of the world. Recently, Shanghai Disney Resort started a phased reopening with its resorts and some retail. Now, it looks like the parks are doing some simulations to test out their new health and safety measures.
Earlier today we showed you what Magic Kingdom looks like now that the parks have temporarily closed until the end of March.
But today, many of the Disney Springs shops and restaurants have remained open. Here’s a look at how Disney World’s entertainment district looked today around lunchtime.
