You’re juggling making sure traffic will get you to the airport hours ahead of takeoff, making sure you didn’t accidentally pack some prohibited weapon or substance in your bag without knowing (just me? Okay then, moving on), ensuring you make it to your gate in plenty of time with all your people and bags intact, among 14 million other things. On top of that, some airlines have different rules or function differently than others, and you may be caught off guard. If you’re flying with Southwest soon, here are some rules you need to know before you get to the airport.

Well, the service is usually great. Southwest has taken quite a bit of heat recently — starting with the mass cancellations that ensued throughout the holiday season in 2022. With those cancellations in mind, we got a bit of a flash back over the past weekend when we were faced with LOTS of delays and cancellations when traveling with Southwest. Let’s talk about it!

Southwest Airlines flies direction to Orlando International Airport which makes it a very convenient option for your next trip. And now the airline is currently offering TWO sales and we want to make sure you know about them!
There are a lot of reasons so many of us choose Southwest Airlines time and again when we fly to Disney World (or anywhere else).

It’s about the only airline left that doesn’t charge for checked bags (up to two). The airline also often offers some great discounts. We also love that the airline has an amazing cancellation policy. But lately, well, let’s just say Southwest Airlines seems to be struggling.
Southwest has been in the news a lot recently, and here they are again.

Most recently, they’re the victim of over 500 airline delays due to thunderstorms, have been told they need to pay a $140 million fine for their massive 2022 shutdown, and revealed their new seat design last month while the internet tore them to shreds. Now, the airline is majorly cracking down on carry-on bags.
The spring break travel season is upon us, and well, if you’re traveling this weekend, you may need to bring some patience, at least if you’re flying on one particular airline. So here’s the thing. Spring break travel means a LOT of people are flying into Orlando International Airport. However, this time of the year also brings rainy weather to the South and Southeast.

Those two things mean that this is the time of year that flight delays could happen (we saw delays around this time last year), especially on Southwest Airlines, which has a lot of flights coming and going from those destinations. As of March 9th, Southwest Airlines has delayed over 40% of its flights at Orlando International Airport. Ouch.
Y’all think I’m going to talk about Southwest’s free bag policy, right? Although I DO love that perk (who doesn’t want free checked bags?!), that’s not the main reason why I fly almost exclusively with Southwest Airlines!Â

If you’re planning to fly to Disney World (or really anywhere) soon, you might feel overwhelmed by the choices available when it comes to airlines. Should you go budget with JetBlue, Frontier, or Spirit? Choose Delta and hope your plane has those fancy new seats? Wait for someone to announce an awesome discount and just go with that one?
That last option is actually a great idea, but even if I find a significantly cheaper flight on another airline, I’ll STILL pick Southwest every single time. Let me tell you WHY. [Read more…]
