So why are we saying that you should avoid Magic Kingdom right now? The answer is simple — a major jump in wait times.

There are many exciting changes coming including the return of the Disney Dining Plan, Genie+ changes, and Park Passes are disappearing for many, but one thing remains the same — LONG wait times. However, something unexpected just happened at the most popular attraction in ALL of Disney World!Â

Magic Kingdom Crowds in May 2023
Disney recently had its Q2 Earnings Call where we got to learn more about what demand is like for Disney+ and the Disney theme parks. During the call, Disney did mention that demand for the parks was going down now that the 50th anniversary is over which could explain the strange crowd patterns and lower Genie+ prices during a typically busy time of year. It looks like this could also be impacting the wait times — let’s take a look!

100th Anniversary at Magic Kingdom
The company is celebrating its 100th anniversary, and that celebration is HUGE. It started in January in Disneyland, but it has made its way to Disney World, too. The anniversary has brought in NEW snacks at the parks, as well as TONS of merchandise, but some announcements about the 100th anniversary surprised us!
Now might be the BEST time to go to Disney World.

We officially made it through the spring break season and the grand opening of TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom and now we’re gearing up for summer crowds in Disney World. Right now, we’re in the sweet spot where crowds are not too bad but it’s a more ideal time of year to be in the parks! Genie+ has held a lower price recently and wait times have continued to decrease, so we’re taking a deep dive into the wait times you can expect in Disney World right now!
Disney World is constantly changing, but many of these changes become controversial according to fans.

Remember when the barges for Harmonious first appeared on the World Showcase Lagoon in EPCOT? A controversy. When Disney World discontinued Magical Express? Don’t even talk about it. And then there was Genie+ — Disney’s paid replacement for the free FastPass service. Now that Genie+ has been around for a while, we’ve mastered the skip-the-line service and we’re here to tell you when it’s worth it and when you should save your money.Â
First, we celebrated Disney World’s 50th anniversary for 18 months. Now, we’re celebrating the Walt Disney Company’s 100th anniversary in Disney World.
Spaceship Earth at EPCOT
Although Disney World is a little late to the party (the 100th celebration kicked off in Disneyland earlier this year), we’ve finally started seeing some 100th anniversary decor in Disney World. EPCOT will serve as the “host” for Disney World’s 100th celebration. Now, we know that EPCOT’s Spaceship Earth will soon get its own 100th anniversary makeover.

Disney World Annual Passes are on sale again after being paused for quite some time (and all pass types are still available!). We also got some major Halloween news about Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party including when you can buy tickets, the cheapest dates, and how TRON will work during the party. Even though Disney news has been busy, the parks seemed to have mellowed out when it comes to wait times.
