We’ve visited Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser both as guests of the media event and as paying guests on the inaugural sailing. Now, we’re using all of our expertise and research to answer the question everyone has been asking: Is Disney World’s Star Wars Hotel worth it?

Well, we’ve been to the Star Wars hotel, and we experienced everything from the food to the character interactions to the lightsaber training. With Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser starting its inaugural sailing TODAY, you might be wondering what are guests ACTUALLY paying for when they drop the five grand+ for their stay — so, let’s talk about it!
Picture it: You’re sitting at a table somewhere or drinking some blue milk when all of a sudden the sound of LOUD alarms fills your ears and 🚨 red lights start to flash all around you! 🚨 What would your first instinct be? You’d probably assume that there’s some kind of emergency and you need to evacuate the building you’re in, right? You know the drill — single file, stay calm, no running — elementary school has taught you well. But if you’re in the Star Wars Hotel, your assumptions would be…TOTALLY WRONG.
Time for the Fun to Start
We are so close to the official opening of the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser (a.k.a. Star Wars Hotel) in Disney World. The long-anticipated, immersive hotel experience officially opens on March 1st, 2022, and we recently got the chance to stay at the hotel during a media preview event. One BIG thing we wondered was how guests would be able to distinguish a REAL hotel emergency (as in, actually-need-to-evacuate-emergency) from a super-secret Resistance mission (which might feel like an “emergency” but isn’t a true problem). This is a critical thing to know in a space that makes you feel like there are emergencies happening around you that are part of the story (but don’t put you in real danger). Luckily, we’ve got all the info you need to know the difference!

One of the things we were most curious about on the ship was the food (duh!). We were able to try every single thing offered on the ship, and have brought you full reviews of breakfast, lunch, dinner, the snacks, and the lounge! While dining on this space food, we discovered an item that was surprisingly familiar…something unexpected, but very welcome while traveling around the galaxy.
BLUE shrimp and a REAL lightsaber!? You’re going to want to be sure you have photo proof of it all when you stay at Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser! After all, you are paying $6,000 to be there — that earns you at least some bragging rights.

The new Disney “hotel” functions a lot more like a Disney cruise as opposed to a Disney Resort, as the cost includes a 2-night stay in a cabin or suite, most food and drink onboard, admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios, valet parking, and a MagicBand, there are quite a few additional things that you can add onto your trip for an extra cost. This includes things like dining at the exclusive Captain’s Table, building your own droid or lightsaber when visiting Galaxy’s Edge, or a visit to Oga’s Cantina. And, now Disney has introduced ANOTHER add-on experience!
Ever since we first saw the picture of blue shrimp at Disney World’s new Star Wars-themed hotel, we have been intrigued about the food onboard the Halcyon (that’s the name of the Galactic Starcruiser ship).
Definitely bizarre
We recently stayed at the Galactic Starcruiser as part of a media event, where we made sure to check out ALL the food onboard. We ate that infamous blue shrimp, along with a scotch Meteor Egg wrapped in cake batter, a tube of Miso Soup in a cup full of salt, and several other dishes that were inspired by planets around the Star Wars galaxy. Some of the bizarre dishes were delicious, and others weren’t our favorite. But what if you’re looking for some “normal” food during your trip to space? Does that even exist on the Halcyon?
The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser has a lot of activities you can do while you’re on the ship, like playing sabacc, interacting with characters, or trying the fun drinks in the Sublight Lounge.

But, one of the activities that we’ve been the most hyped up about (as we’re sure other Star Wars fans have been, too) is the lightsaber training! We know we’re not alone in saying that we’ve wanted to wield a lightsaber (and actually FEEL like we’re using it) since seeing the movies years ago. Is there even a cooler weapon in cinema?! Well, we finally got to try out the lightsaber training aboard the Galactic Starcruiser, and we’re here to tell you if it’s worth the hype!
You could be paying around $6,000 total for a single room at Disney World’s new Star Wars-themed hotel. So that cost should cover all possible expenses during your stay, right? Apparently not.

One of the reasons a stay at the Galactic Starcruiser is so expensive is that it’s more like a cruise experience rather than a hotel. Most meals and activities onboard are included in the price.
