While Disney World is prone to lots of storms and potential hurricanes, Disneyland has its days as well. Today is DEFINITELY one of those days — here’s why today is NOT a good day to be in Disneyland.

Chances are you know about it if you’ve been on social media or have been watching the news. Southwest Airlines is canceling and delaying flights and we recently learned that flights will continue being canceled all the way through December 31st. Today, December 28th, the cancelations continue and other airlines are working to help stranded travelers.
Tropical Storm Nicole is on its way toward Florida, and Disney World is making preparations to keep guests and employees safe.

The Disney World parks will close early tonight (November 9th) in a phased closure, and Disney Springs is also going to close early. Some hotels will close, along with certain amenities like miniature golf courses. Additionally, nighttime shows and other events have been canceled. UPDATE: Tropical Storm Nicole has been upgraded to a category 1 hurricane as of 7PM ET on November 9th.Â
Disney has already announced several changes that will happen at the Disney World parks and hotels in response to Tropical Storm Nicole, which is expected to affect Central Florida today (November 9th) and tomorrow.
The castle stays right here, even when it hurricanes.
The parks are going to have a phased closure beginning at 5PM on November 9th, and several nighttime events have been canceled. Disney suspended cancelation fees as well, so you can cancel your reservations without penalty if you had previously planned to visit in the next few days. Stormy day in Magic Kingdom!
While Hurricane Ian’s true path remains a bit unpredictable, Floridians are already preparing for heavy storms and flooding in the later part of the week. If the hurricane hits Disney World, there are certain procedures that will be put in place for guest safety, and now it seems as though Disney is already preparing.
If you’re heading to Disney World, you need to be prepared for intense heat, weather situations that could even lead to funnel clouds, and heavy rain that could create flooding.
Bring those ponchos!
We’ve seen flooding impact the parks and stores at times in the past and now a flood advisory is in place that could impact your trip.
It’s hurricane season, and that means it’s VERY stormy in Florida.

During the summer months, we often see storms nearly every afternoon, and those can put a damper on your plans if you’re traveling to the theme parks. At Disney World, many outdoor rides will close with lightning, as well as a variety of outdoor entertainment options. But what about if it’s a travel day? In that case, you might want to be prepared for some delays.

Especially in the warmer months, it’s super common to see severe thunderstorms in the parks. Sometimes a rain shower will pop in just for 10 minutes and then it’s sunny again like nothing even happened! And, if you’re in Disney World right now, you need to pay attention to the current weather.

This party is finally BACK after a 2-year hiatus, and we’re loving all the treats, characters, costumes, and trick-or-treating.
