We’ve seen hurricanes, floods, severe thunderstorms, extreme heat, and even a few cold snaps in the parks. And in general, we’re pretty good about being prepared for all of it! But if you’re traveling to Disney World or Central Florida today, there are some weather-related issues that may delay your plans.

During the summer months, we often see storms nearly every afternoon, and those can put a damper on your plans if you’re traveling to the theme parks. At Disney World, many outdoor rides will close with lightning, as well as a variety of outdoor entertainment options. But what about if it’s a travel day? In that case, you might want to be prepared for some delays.
We’ve all been there. You’ve just arrived to the park to have a great day when you feel a drop… and then you hear the distant roll of thunder. Before you know it, you’re caught in a thunderstorm and there’s no end in sight. “But there was no rain in the forecast!!” you say. And OF COURSE this is the day you didn’t pack your umbrella and rain gear. 🌧️
