Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Disney World is getting a big makeover soon and turning into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure!

We’ve already seen some concept art for the ride, as well as more details about the characters, and we recently found out about and opening timeline. But, if you’re like us, we’re sure you want to know what it’s actually going to LOOK like, right? Well, good news — we just got a SNEAK PEEK at a model of the ride!
“I heard Cinderella Castle can be disassembled in a hurricane.” 😮 “Oh yeah?! Well, I heard that the turkey legs in Disney World are NOT made of turkey.” “I heard that Walt Disney is frozen inside the Carousel of Progress!” That’s just a snippet of the creative rumors many have spread over the years. Suffice it to say, we’ve heard our fair share of Disney World myths and you probably have too.
Cinderella Castle
But the rumor mill never sleeps. From stories about Cinderella Castle being torn down (?!) to rumors that the Princess and the Frog re-theme of Splash Mountain has been canceled, there are a lot of stories floating around out there. So we’re here to DEBUNK some of the big rumors you might have scrolled past on the internet so you can know what’s real and what’s totally fake!
In case you missed the HUGE news, the Splash Mountain rides in Disney World and Disneyland are going to be re-themed, with a story inspired by Disney’s The Princess and the Frog. The rides will be called Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and they’ll have songs and characters from the movie.

Time sure does fly, right? We’re into the second half of the year and SO MUCH has already happened at Disney World in the past 6 months — a ton of entertainment has returned, character meet and greets are back to normal, the Star Wars hotel finally opened, and we got a brand new ride in EPCOT. We’ve known for a while that Splash Mountain in Disneyland and Magic Kingdom is set to be rethemed to a Princess and the Frog attraction, but a few days ago, Disney finally revealed the name and opening timeline for the rethemed attraction. We’ll be gearing up to ride Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in late 2024, but now, we’ve got more information about one specific detail of the ride…Princess Tiana herself!

We’ve already seen some concept art, and heard a bit about the characters coming to the rethemed ride, and we got a potential opening date from the voice behind Tiana. Disney also shared that more details about the retheme would be released during ESSENCE Fest, a special festival taking place in New Orleans.
