The transportation system is beloved by guests and has been praised for the convenience it provides to those staying at connected resorts, but it has also had a few “crashes” and closures in the past. Recently, the transportation system went under a short refurbishment, but just days after reopening, one line is closed down!
The Disney Skyliner is one of the newest and most convenient transportation options in Disney World.

You get to board a gondola and travel through the sky — so it’s basically a ride outside of the parks! The Skyliner connects a few Disney World Resort hotels with two Disney Parks, but this transportation option will be unavailable for a few days. But, these changes are not just restricted to the parks — Disney’s resort hotels are getting new features and offerings as well. As of January 1st, 2022, Disney World’s Magical Express went away forever. And although two services — Mears Connect and The Sunshine Flyer — are operating paid transportation services to and from Orlando International Airport and Disney World, we’re also interested in the Brightline train that will eventually connect Disney Springs to the airport.

We’ve had updates about Brightline’s planned route around Florida, as well as delays in its construction. We even have a general idea of when the construction of the line to Disney World could start. And we’ve now got an update about upcoming test runs of the train!
Now that Disney World’s Magical Express service is gone, we’ve been thinking A LOT about the replacement service, Mears Connect.

And there are a LOT of changes coming to Disney World in the New Year. We’ll see the grand opening of the new Star Wars Hotel, the opening of the Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind ride, and the end of the Magical Express. The Magical Express is the complimentary transportation service to and from Orlando International Airport for guests staying at Disney World resorts.
