We are live from Universal CityWalk this evening as the shopping and dining district of Universal Orlando has reopened with limited operations today for the first time since the Resort began its temporary closure in March in light of the current global situation. (While CityWalk is now reopen, the theme parks and the rest of the Resort remain closed until further notice.)

Today, Universal CityWalk in Universal Orlando Resort has reopened with limited operations for the first time since beginning a temporary closure of the entire Resort in light of the current global situation. At press time, we are providing live coverage of our full experience on reopening day of the Resort’s shopping and dining district (while the theme parks remain closed until further notice).

Now that CityWalk at Universal Orlando has reopened, they are implementing new safety measures — including required temperature checks.
While the Universal theme parks still remain closed, CityWalk at Universal Orlando has reopened today with limited hours, limited offerings, and new health and safety measures. One of the safety measures they have implemented is required temperature checks for both employees and guests. Here was our team’s experience with the CityWalk temperature check screening!
In late April, it was announced that construction for Universal Orlando Resort’s upcoming theme park, Epic Universe, had met with delays in light of the current global situation which has led to the temporary closure of Universal Orlando as well as Walt Disney World Resort and other area destinations.
Epic Universe was originally slated to open in 2023, and even with the announced delay in construction, it had not been revealed how the delay would affect the opening timeline. However, according to an article by the Orlando Sentinel, construction of Epic Universe will not resume immediately upon the Resort’s reopening. [Read more…]
We continue to follow along with the discussions of Florida’s Orange County Economic Recovery Task Force as the state is now in its second week of reopening.
Orange County, as a reminder, is one of two counties in which Walt Disney World resides (Osceola County is the other). And the major theme parks in the area — which also include SeaWorld and Universal Orlando Resort — all have representation with members in the Task Force and its subcommittees. [Read more…]

We just learned today that Disney World is beginning to send surveys to guests with existing reservations — asking which factors influence their decisions to travel. Universal has already sent out similar surveys in the past, but today they sent out a new set of questions.
According to Bay News 9, this new survey focuses on potential reopening scenarios — including various factors on capacity and cost, and how guests would feel about visiting the parks under each case.
The state of Florida has begun reopening its retail and dining businesses, and there has been some speculation over when we may see shops and restaurants open at locations like Disney Springs and Universal’s CityWalk.
According to Attractions Magazine, it seems as though CityWalk, the shopping and dining district at the Universal Orlando Resort, is planning a partial reopening next week.
Last summer, it was announced that Universal Orlando Resort would be opening a brand new theme park: Universal’s Epic Universe.
Epic Universe will ultimately join Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and the Volcano Bay water park when it makes its debut at the Resort. However, it has been announced that the construction of the new theme park has met with delays in light of the current global health situation which has led to the temporary closure of Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Hollywood as well as Walt Disney World and other Disney destinations.
