We’ve already updated you on crowds, parking, and the new safety protocols in place, but now we are heading to grab some food and drinks to see what the new restaurant experience is like.
We are live from Universal CityWalk this evening as the shopping and dining district of Universal Orlando has reopened with limited operations today for the first time since the Resort began its temporary closure in March in light of the current global situation. (While CityWalk is now reopen, the theme parks and the rest of the Resort remain closed until further notice.)

Universal Orlando’s CityWalk reopened today with new procedures, and Disney Springs plans to reopen next week. Today, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) released a new set of guidelines to help businesses decide whether they are ready to proceed with reopening or not.

In late April, it was announced that construction for Universal Orlando Resort’s upcoming theme park, Epic Universe, had met with delays in light of the current global situation which has led to the temporary closure of Universal Orlando as well as Walt Disney World Resort and other area destinations.
Epic Universe was originally slated to open in 2023, and even with the announced delay in construction, it had not been revealed how the delay would affect the opening timeline. However, according to an article by the Orlando Sentinel, construction of Epic Universe will not resume immediately upon the Resort’s reopening. [Read more…]
With Disney Springs set to open on May 20th, it seems another Orlando entertainment district is opening too.
Following the lengthy closure of the nearby theme parks, CityWalk at Universal Orlando will open on May 14th with limited hours, limited offerings, and new health and safety measures.
We just learned today that Disney World is beginning to send surveys to guests with existing reservations — asking which factors influence their decisions to travel. Universal has already sent out similar surveys in the past, but today they sent out a new set of questions.
According to Bay News 9, this new survey focuses on potential reopening scenarios — including various factors on capacity and cost, and how guests would feel about visiting the parks under each case.
