“Bless my soul!” A live-action HERC is on the roll!
The Hollywood Reporter has announced yet another live-action remake of a Disney animated film, surely with its sights set to “go the distance.”
We’ve talked a lot about how the theme park industry could see repercussions from the global health crisis, but that certainly isn’t the only sector to be affected.
Of course, we’ve seen a bunch of Disney and 20th Century movies delayed as a result of the current production halts, but what could the lasting effect of the crisis be on Hollywood? Disney is one of the companies at the forefront of conversations among film executives to try to figure out what sort of protocols might have to be put into place.
Happy Earth Day! We hope you’re finding time today to get outside, even if it’s just for a brief moment, to breathe in some fresh air, maybe plant a flower or two, and enjoy all the beauty that our wonderful planet has to offer!
There’s plenty of ways to celebrate Earth Day at home with Disney, including watching some films! Disney+ released a watch list for films, documentaries, and series inspired by Earth Day! And the list is full of options! Classic animated films? Check! National Geographic documentaries? Check! We’re gonna be working through this list for the rest of the week!

Let’s briefly recap some of the news you may have missed in these past few days!

Earlier today we found out the release of Disney and Pixar’s Soul had just been postponed. But that’s not the only Walt Disney Studios project being delayed!
Raya and the Last Dragon was supposed to be released on November 25th, 2020, but now it’s just been pushed all the way back to 2021!
With the current pause on work in Hollywood and the furlough of many Walt Disney Studios employees due to the current global sitaution, we’ve been keeping a close eye on all of the different Disney and 20th Century films that have been delayed.
Today, Disney announced a new release date for the upcoming Disney Pixar film Soul. The flick was originally supposed to be released in theaters on June 19th, but the current situation has caused a change in plans.
Well, the days certainly are being to blend together a little bit (we were still under the impression today was the 368th day of March this morning!).
And if you’ve been distracting yourself with other means of entertainment lately now that the Disney parks are closed, we totally don’t blame you!
As Disney Parks around the world are closed “until further notice,” other areas of the Walt Disney Company are also, of course, being impacted in light of the current global situation.
While non-essential cast members in both Disney World and Disneyland have previously received notification of furloughs, today brings the news that employees “whose jobs aren’t necessary at this time” have now received official furlough notices at Walt Disney Studios as well. [Read more…]
Right now, a lot of us are experiencing some MAJOR post-Disney blues since we haven’t been visiting the parks!
Although Disney has been trying to do everything they can to help by donating excess food, donating masks and other materials, and even extending Annual Passes, the company may still take a hit financially with the recent closures. Since ALL the Disney Parks are closed (which hasn’t happened before now) and Disney Cruise Line sailings are cancelled, Disney is likely to see some changes in the aftermath. And now we have insight into just how much the closures are impacting the value of the Walt Disney Company.
