Big changes are happening in EPCOT…almost every week!

Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana and the rest of the EPCOT transformation are scheduled to open in late 2023, and the construction countdown is ON! Every few days, we notice some big updates with the ongoing projects, and today we’re sharing all the changes that have happened with the upcoming Moana attraction and the EPCOT transformation in the past few weeks. If you haven’t been to EPCOT in a while, you’ll probably feel lost the next time you visit. That’s because a LOT has changed in this park, and even more changes are on the way!

EPCOT’s massive transformation has so far included a new quick-service restaurant, a space-themed table-service restaurant, a Ratatouille-themed attraction, a Marvel roller coaster, and so much more. It might feel like everything that could change in this park has already done so, but the transformation isn’t quite over yet. We’ve been following along carefully as EPCOT’s many construction projects continue. The expanded area in the France pavilion of World Showcase opened last year with the new Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure ride and a new restaurant! And we recently welcomed Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind to World Discovery. Now, let’s take a look at an ongoing project in World Nature.

EPCOT is currently undergoing a massive transformation that includes new rides, restaurants, stores, and more.

Some of the transformation has been completed, like Creations Shop, Connections Cafe and Eatery, Club Cool, and Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure. But, other parts of the transformation either have a long way to go or have been put on pause. One of the attractions in progress right now is Journey of Water — Inspired by Moana. We’ve been keeping a close eye on construction, but Disney just shared a new look at some concept art for the area!
You might think that trying to eat at Disney World with dietary restrictions would be super difficult, but there are a TON more options now for all kinds of diets!

There are a lot of items that are gluten free, as well as those that are plant-based, and some vegetarian options. Actually — there’s a whole BOOTH at this year’s EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival that serves plant-based food! There has even been some new happenings since our last check-in, so let’s take a moment to roundup the latest findings around the park!
This past week has been a BIG one for Disney World, specifically EPCOT! The park celebrated its 39th Anniversary on October 1st (the same day as the big 5-0 in Magic Kingdom), and its anniversary was greeted by new fireworks, new dining experiences, and much more!

A lot has happened in EPCOT since we last checked in on what was new, including the premiere of a NEW fireworks show, Harmonious! Let’s recap what else is new in EPCOT this week.
Part of EPCOT’s Transformation included the re-imagining of Future World into three new, distinct neighborhoods: World Discovery, World Celebration, and World Nature. These three sections would join World Showcase as the four themed areas of EPCOT!

Earlier this week, we learned that these three neighborhoods would officially debut in time for the start of the 50th Anniversary Celebration — as well as EPCOT’s 39th Anniversary. Today is the day, and the days of referring to “Future World” when describing the front half of EPCOT are behind us!

A Peek at the Construction in EPCOT
While some projects have been completed, like EPCOT’s entrance area, others are still a work in progress, like attractions that were supposed to be opening soon. But, EPCOT is still getting ready for the big 50th anniversary celebration. And, we just learned about another part of the park’s transformation that will be ready for the anniversary!
The radical transformation of Epcot is well underway and pretty soon we’ll be wishing Future World a fond farewell and welcoming the new World Celebration, World Discovery, and World Nature districts with open arms.
