We’ve got some Be Our Guest Restaurant menu updates for lunch and dinner!

Yep — the brand new Be Our Guest Restaurant in the Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland is already updating their choices and prices based on high demand…

Be Our Guest Restaurant Menu Changes Already in the Works...

Price Increases

First up, we have some price increases to contend with. We’ll need to dig deeper into our pockets when ordering lunch and dinner items.

For example at dinner, the French Onion Soup was $6.99 and is now $7.49; Thyme-scented Pork Rack Chop went up $2; and the Sauteed Shrimp and Scallops will now cost an additional $3. The steak dinner is up a few dollars as well. While dessert prices remained the same, most prices for appetizers and entrees on the dinner menu were increased.

Guest Review: Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian’s Garden View Lounge

Today, we’re visiting the Garden View Lounge at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort as DFB guest author Julie B. takes us to afternoon tea.

Tucked in the back of the Grand Floridian lobby is the Garden View Lounge, offering a perfect afternoon tea.

This is the perfect option for a Mother/Daughter getaway or a relaxing solo escape.

Atmosphere

This delightful little room is completely open to the lobby and also features huge windows to bask the entire room in afternoon light.

Enjoy tea at the Garden View Lounge!

The icing on the cake to set the mood was beautiful piano music floating in from the lobby (especially the Disney songs!).

Of course, you may see a few familiar faces while you’re here!

Eats

This afternoon, we were at the Grand to sample the afternoon tea. There are endless possibilities on the menu. Diners can choose between many a la carte options and teas, or opt for a tea service and food accompaniment.

The two most popular choices are the Buckingham Palace or the Grand Tea (essentially the same as the Buckingham Palace service but also featuring a glass of sparkling wine).

Review: Meatball Cone at Walt Disney World’s Downtown Disney

We first told you in March that some favorite Cone-Shaped Foods from Disney California Adventure had arrived in Walt Disney World!

This is a trend that we’ve been seeing more and more lately. When a new, “unique” food is introduced at one of the parks, it usually shows up on the other coast with a different name or themeing. Case in point: Red’s Apple Freeze at California Adventure’s Cozy Cone Motel has morphed into Le Fou’s Brew at Gaston’s Tavern in Magic Kingdom’s New Fantasyland.

Cones Come to Disney World!

And now, we’re seeing the migration East of the cone foods — sadly sans the awesome Cars themeing. So you’d better believe that I made a special trip over to Downtown Disney’s Marketplace Snacks to check them out!

Two new cones replace a couple of the more upscale “gourmet” hot dog selections that were previously available here. If you’re a big fan of the Philly Cheesesteak Dog or the Barbecued Pork and Coleslaw Dog, you’ll have to enjoy them elsewhere. (At our last check, the Philly Cheesesteak Dog could still be found at Magic Kingdom’s Lunching Pad, while you can head to Casey’s Corner for the Barbecue Pork Coleslaw Dog.)

While that’s all good, I was here for one reason: those cones. Some have heralded cones as the blessed return of the Disney handwich.

The Cones come with two different fillings: the Chili Cone Queso and the Meatball Cone.

Scotland Booth Debuts; Brazil Booth and Others Return!

We’re excited to report that a new Scotland booth will be debuting at the 2013 Festival (could this have anything to do with Merida? Hmm…).

And I can’t wait to hear about the menu the Brazil booth will offer this time around!

UPDATE!: The Original DFB Jungle Juice Float in Animal Kingdom

I dreamed up the Jungle Juice Float on a recent trip to Disney World! And today, we bring you the first-ever taste test provided by guest author Julie B.! Here’s what she has to say…

I thought I’d give it a whirl with soft serve at Camp Minnie Mickey to recreate the Dole Whip style! But AJ was right to head to a closer ice cream cart (my frozen juice was a little thawed by the time I made it just to Camp Minnie-Mickey).

Review: New Lunch Menu at Le Cellier Steakhouse in Epcot’s Canada Pavilion

Since Le Cellier Steakhouse in Epcot’s Canada Pavilion is one of my favorite places to dine, I take any change to the menu pretty seriously.

We recently reported the news that the steakhouse would be changing their lunch meal to a signature (i.e. expensive!) meal, meaning they’d be featuring the same menu for lunch that they have for dinner.

The change in the menu was pretty hotly contested by most readers who are Le Cellier fans. Those of you who routinely use the Disney Dining Plan expressed disappointment that you couldn’t opt for the one credit lunch (now both lunch and dinner are “signature” meals, thus requiring two credits on the Disney Dining Plan.)

But many of you who don’t use the DDP also expressed exasperation, as the prices were steep for lunch. Still others were upset that beloved items like the Le Cellier Burger didn’t make the cut.

With all of this in mind, we decided to stop by Le Cellier for lunch and take a look at some of the new menu items. I was also interested to see how we felt about eating our large, most expensive meal midday, rather than in the evening.

Atmosphere

Le Cellier Steakhouse is located in the “cellar” of the chateau that you’ll find in the Canada Pavilion of Epcot’s World Showcase. Modeled after famed chateau-style hotels, the restaurant is themed to give you the impression that you’re dining in the wine cellar.

When you arrive, you’ll check in at the podium on the main thoroughfare, then proceed down the path and into the small lobby. Le Cellier has historically been a very tough ticket to get when it comes to Disney dining reservations. I’m interested to see if it will be easier to dine here now that both meals are on the expensive side.

When we entered the lobby, we noticed that there have been some new landscape portraits added to the walls.

This plaque details the history of The Group of Seven and its importance in bringing Canadian landscape art into its own.

Before the group of artists — also sometimes known as the Algonquin school — began capturing the Canadian countryside on canvas, many thought the country not worthy of artists’ attention. The paintings are a welcome addition to the lobby, and really serve to further this spot as a real taste of Canada’s beauty.
