We booked our Disney trip 2 years ago with free dining so would love if they offered it again as we are planning a trip for end of November this year.

Here’s another idea….
Become a Disney card holder.
Receive notification a week before all Disney offers (like free dining) are open to everyone else.
Have option to pay off vacation over 6 months time thanks to free financing.
Another note, I have to laugh at the fact that so much more is made of the “free dining” offer vs. the % off room rate. You understand when you getting free dining that your room rates are at their highest.

While free dining also means paying “rack rates” for the room, it depends on who is in your party as to which is a better deal for you. I like to take “adults only / girls’ trips” to WDW and free dining is ideal for us! We split the cost of the room 4 ways, but each person eats free. That’s a much better deal than getting a discount on the room only when the overall package is split 4 ways. Bring on free dining!!!
AJ says
Mike V — Agreed! In our DFB Guide to WDW Dining ebook we break down pricing for all discounts, including free dining and room discounts to see which save the most money. It IS possible to save quite a bit on free dining, even without the room discount, but you have to be vigilant about it!

We use the Free Dining promotion to bring a group of Senior Adults to WDW for the Food and Wine Festival, stay in a moderate hotel – this year at POR – and upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan by paying the difference. That way we get to eat at all the Signature places and enjoy all the Festival kiosks with it all being included. Our group last year thought “they had died and gone to Food Heaven”. We saved so much money because we plotted and planned and used the package to its fullest without overeating. It was Fabulous!!

Susan — That’s great! Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

I plan to visit next October, preferably in the Free Dining time. When is the official dates announced every year? Looking at past posts and this one, it seems about mid April or so, but doing the 180 day math backwards from the day I want reservations for hard-to-score ADRs like Be Our Guest for dinner, that will be early April. I also hear that you technically get 10 extra days because if you have resort reservations, the earliest you can book ADRs is 180 from your check-in date for up to 10 days into your stay, so for me, that would be very end of March which would give me an edge to getting the reservation, but I won’t be able to book my resort until the Free Dining plan official dates are announced next year. What do you suggest?
