IS HERE!!!
Seeing as we’re HUGE cupcake fans here at the DFB, this latest Disney Springs opening is a definite cause for celebration! And if you love cupcakes as much as we do, then this is great news for you, too, since Sprinkles was designated the “world’s first cupcake bakery” by the Food Network (the first location opened in Beverly Hills in 2005).
Of course, maybe you’ve already paid a visit to Sprinkles, which has locations in Dallas, Chicago, Las Vegas, and Nashville, among others. (Even though I prefer my beloved Magnolia cupcakes in the Village, I, myself, am intimately familiar with Sprinkles’ order-ahead policy and the employees at my local Sprinkles Cupcakes store pretty much know me by name.)
You may have tried one of the signature cupcakes, a house-made cookie, or some slow-churned ice cream (some locations carry all three, though some offer solely cupcakes). Maybe you’ve even zipped by one and grabbed a cupcake from one of the famous Cupcake ATMs.
But you’ve never been able to have one at Disney World… until NOW!
Join us in welcoming Sprinkles to Disney Springs!
Atmosphere
Sprinkles is located in the newly opened Town Center of Disney Springs, just around the corner from the Marketplace. You can easily identify Sprinkles by spotting a couple of things. First, the signature Sprinkles logo (which just happens to be…spots):
And second: the ever-present lines 😉 !
Here is a quick glimpse at the Opening Day scene… but honestly, even if they don’t always look quite like this, I think it will be safe to expect at least some form of line at this popular place, which has earned quite a reputation over the years. (I can tell you I was every bit as pumped as these folks when I first heard the news that Sprinkles was coming to Disney Springs!)
Staying inside, the high ceilings keep those lines from feeling too clausterphobic, helping the overall space to still feel bright. And once you make it close to the front you can watch the busy — but pleasant — cast create some cupcake goodness.
And while the Sprinkles logos and fonts may be familiar to you from locations in other cities, you can bet that there is at least one Disney-specific touch at this newest location 😉 .
Perhaps in some anticipation of the popularity of Sprinkles, there are oodles of tables and chairs outside offering some pretty cool views.
You can see Raglan Road in the background of this photo, providing a familiar landmark.
Oh! There’s one more identifier that you may find handy, and that’s the famous Cupcake ATM — it’s the splash of pink on the right of the photo below.
If you had trouble spotting it due to those lines 😉 , here’s a closeup!
We’ll go through a little step-by-step later on, but right now we know what you’ve all been waiting for, because SO HAVE WE…
Eats
Sprinkles serves up all sorts of sweet treats including slow-churned Ice Cream (available in Sandwiches, Sundaes, Shakes, or in Cones or Cups), Cookies, and even specialty coffees (Red Velvet Mocha, anyone?).
But its absolute claim to fame is CUPCAKES!
While choices may vary, let’s take a look at the line up on Opening Day. Flavors include Vanilla, Chocolate Marshmallow, and Sprinkle (of course!).
Just so you know — the cupcakes here (at least the ones with frosting) have a sweet, moist cake base and a thick, sugary frosting. No whipped cream anywhere near this place. The frosting is what I like to refer lovingly to as “lardy,” which means it’s thick, rich, buttery, and super-sweet. Perfection.
Banana, Coconut, Dark Chocolate, and Vanilla Milk Chocolate join the Cupcake Party.
Ready for more? Good, because they keep on comin’! Strawberry, Salty Caramel, Carrot, and Black and White join the lineup.
And perhaps the most popular Sprinkles Cupcake: Red Velvet. This one is available in Gluten-Free, Sugar-Free, and Vegan versions, too.
A small (no pun intended) variety of Mini Cupcakes are available as well, in case you’d like to sample a few different flavors at once.
The Disney Springs location will also start carrying Seasonal Cupcakes, too. Look for those to arrive starting June 2nd with the summer flavor, Key Lime Pie!
Even Fido isn’t left out, thanks to Doggie Cupcakes ($2.50 a pup… I mean, a POP!). Don’t you love how Pluto is looking so longingly at his very own Sprinkles cupcake?
We can relate, pal!
Now, let’s check out some of those Cookies while we’re at it. Options include Peanut Butter, Gluten-Free Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, and Salted Oatmeal Cornflake.
We also spotted some Fudge Brownies in the case.
But now, it’s finally time to grab a beverage (or two) to go with our treats and settle in!
Here’s a Sprinkles Cupcake Mickey of our own making :). Mickey’s head (the full-size cupcake) is the Chocolate Marshmallow Cupcake. The left ear is the Mini Black and White Cupcake, and the right ear is the Mini Red Velvet Cupcake.
The Chocolate Marshmallow Cupcake is a Belgian Dark Chocolate cake base covered in bittersweet chocolate ganache.
The marshmallow is a cream filling tucked inside, and while it’s soft, fluffy, and sweet, it’s the rich ganache that makes this one a standout for me (and you probably KNOW what a frosting fan I am by now, so that’s saying something!).
Like every other Sprinkles cupcake I’ve ever tried, the cake base was moist and flavorful. Sprinkles cupcakes are the real deal, without a doubt.
The mini version of the Black and White Cupcake offers a taste of that same Belgian Chocolate cake base, only with vanilla frosting (and some chocolate shavings, to boot!). It’s a nice choice when you’re in the mood for some simple and classic cupcake flavors.
I just had to have the most popular one off the menu, the Red Velvet. This is one of my favorites of the bunch. (FYI, my favorite flavors are banana, vanilla (no sprinkles), red velvet, black and white, carrot, and seasonal flavors like lemon blueberry. I’m pretty excited to fall in love with that Salty Caramel though!)
The frosting on this one is their yummy cream cheese frosting, and it’s amazing.
Speaking of frosting, if there’s anything you know about me by now it’s that I’m a frosting fanatic. And Sprinkles offers…frosting shots! Yep, no joke. I’ve had ’em and I love ’em. Each one offers a little “condiment cup” of the frosting of your choice ($1.50 each), complete with a little wooden ice cream spoon for eating! ;-D
We thought we’d give one of the Ice Cream Sundaes a go, too, since the options give you a chance to combine some Sprinkles slow-churned ice cream along with other treats like a cookie, a brownie, or hey… how about another cupcake 😉 ? We tried the Sprinkles Sundae, which is one scoop of ice cream with one Sprinkles Cupcake.
Here’s our custom creation: a Strawberry Ice Cream Sundae with a Banana Cupcake.
The cupcake is deconstructed so you can enjoy the flavors in layers, which is a nice touch.
I found the flavor of the ice cream to be fresh and pure strawberry. The Sprinkles Sundae is a fun way to try two treats in one.
We do have one more experience to show you, but this one involves a little How-To, because we grabbed it from the Sprinkles Cupcake ATM!
They dispense most of the full-size cupcakes and cookies (and remember to have your credit or debit card ready, because the Cupcake ATM doesn’t accept cash).
It’s a very user-friendly system, really. Just step right up, and follow the prompts on the screen to select your cupcake of choice.
My apologies… the Florida sun and screens don’t play well together, but hopefully you can see my choice of a Vanilla Cupcake.
Follow the steps to make your payment, and with that, “Your purchase is on the way!”
Next, move your eyes to the right… and be assured that the “door will automatically reopen if cupcakes remain inside.”
But no worries at all here! It’s easy as pie to reach right in and grab your waiting cupcake.
Voila!
I’d say a Madagascar Vanilla Bourbon cake topped with Vanilla frosting is a perfectly SWEET way to wrap up our first trip to Sprinkles in Disney Springs!
Wouldn’t you agree… or is there another flavor you’d choose to have waiting for you in that Cupcake ATM 🙂 ?
Overall
If you’ve ever tried a Sprinkles Cupcake, then it’s not difficult to understand why the crowds have gathered for its opening day at Disney Springs! If you haven’t had a chance to try one, it’s TOTALLY worth stopping by the new location on your next trip to Disney World to see what all the fuss is about for yourself. Sprinkles is an absolute must-stop for cupcake lovers, and there will likely be at least one sweet treat or two that will appeal to every member of your party, since the Disney Springs location also carries Sprinkles ice cream and cookies as well as gluten-free and vegan treats.
At this time, Sprinkles does not offer any discounts or accept the Disney Dining Plan… but stay tuned to the DFB, because we’ll be talking about a little something called the Sprinkles Perks program very soon!
So get ready to stop by Sprinkles and find out why everyone is so glad that Sprinkles is finally here in Disney Springs!
Pin it for later!

I am SO excited to go on Monday!! It’ll be banana for me! I also need to try their chocolate chip and PB pretzel cookies. And I love that they have a cinnamon-sugar version without frosting, as my son isn’t a frosting guy.
Patricia says
So happy to see one of my fav cupcake shops in my fav place!
PS – AJ, not sure if it’s my browser or something went wrong, but a few pictures don’t match their captions! No big deal to me at all, but I thought you might want to know.
Glad you enjoyed!

Literally, literally drooling.
I need all of these cupcakes in my life.

I would have hoped they would offer all the different resort specialty cupcakes here. I know I’ll never be able to experience every resort…but having g an easier option to experience all their cupcakes…MMMMMMM!

The Salted Oatmeal Cornflake cookie and the oh-so-adorable Sprinkle covered cupcake are on my to-do list for sure! Super excited about this fun addition!!
Dana says
Sprinkles sure looks like a place to try! Everything looks delish. Quality is what matters most.
Brooke says
Patricia — We’ve seen that issue a few times for Apple users. Are you viewing on an iPad or iPhone?
Adrienne says
I’m not the biggest cupcake fan so I didn’t think Sprinkles would have much to interest me, but I have to say that those cookies look incredible! I’d love to try a scoop of coffee ice cream sandwiched between a peanut butter pretzel chip cookie and a salted oatmeal cornflake cookie! Yum!!!

I’m with AJ — banana and vanilla without sprinkles are my favorites. I also love orange!

I wonder what is to become of WDW’s infamous parks’ cupcakes. Will we start seeing Sprinkles cupcakes in parks or will they always be a separate shop in the Disney Springs bubble?
Rod says
This location is unique in that it has a fixed cupcake flavor menu (except for the occasionally changing seasonal item) due to the high volumes expected here. All other locations, including the one in Tampa, have a menu which changes every day (go to sprinkles.com to see the flavor calendar). Another unique feature is that the ice cream and cupcakes are together in one store (other locations have separate cupcake and ice cream entrances). This makes it much easier for a group to order together when they don’t all want one or the other. Finally, note that the store is open 10AM-midnight every day (the mall is open only until 11PM or 11:30PM at the moment).
Ann says
OK, I know they are at WDW and the rent is probably high but $5 for 1 cupcake that costs about 60 cents to make?! Prices are getting out of control. Minimum wage where I live is $9/hour so someone would have to work over a half an hour to buy 1 cupcake.
Essie says
I would love to try a choc. marshmallow and a strawberry! I agree with Ann that prices are so out of control. But, too many people have the attitude that they will pay what ever it costs if it’s something that they want! This isn’t just at WDW. It’s everywhere.
Melanie says
I’m super excited about this place! I hope I can fit Disney Springs into my vacation in August! It would be awesome if they could have the magicband Mickey at the ATM so we can charge it to our credit card that’s linked. I know in time that will come.
Candace says
Black and White is my favorite everyday flavor! My favorite seasonal is the S’mores cupcake!! My sister and I frequent Sprinkles in Downtown LA very often! It never disappoints (except when it’s 4pm and they run out of my favorite flavor and aren’t making anymore for the evening… My own fault, not theirs)! LOVE Sprinkles! 😀
Kelly says
Anyone know if they have the margarita cupcake advertised on their website through Sunday?
Kelli says
I went today with my nieces and we bought a few cupcakes. We had the vanilla, red velvet, sprinkle and salted caramel. I am not sure why the high reviews, none of us likes them. The cupcakes tasted like corn bread and the icing like lard. I thought it was just my adult taste buds, however the teenagers I was with did not even finish these $5.00 cupcakes, only eating less than half. The order process is also odd. You order with the girl at the register and instead of taking the cupcakes, which are right there with her, she gives you a ticket and you have to go wait for someone to bag it up. Not sure why they have it set up this way, seems to cause a traffic back up. We had such high hopes and were so excited they opened and made a trip there (we live local), we won’t be back.
Justin says
My wife and I visited here a week ago. While it was a fine cupcake, it was just another cupcake. I won’t be going back when I can get more unique and flavorful options at Ammorette’s. I only had to wait five minutes or so. I would have been so disappointed if I had to wait an hour for a cupcake.
marina says
Hi are the cupcakes included in the ddp? As snacks for example?
Beth says
Are the gluten free items produced and displayed/stored away from the gluten items, for those of us who have to worry about cross contamination?
heidi says
Just wondering, does the chocolate marshmallow actually have a marshmallow in it, or is it frosting?
Maria says
are you still offering a free cupcake with a new perks sign up? Thanks! maria
just signed up today!!
Brooke says
Maria — Sprinkles is no longer offering the free cupcake with perks sign up. I inquired the last time I was there, and they said it was a limited time offer, which ended in May. Thank you for the reminder! I’ll update the post with the information.
Jean says
I was surprised at the size of the cupcake. I figured it would of been a jumbo cupcake because of how expensive it is. I can get a jumbo filled cupcake @ publix for less & it tastes a lot better. I won’t be going back. I’ll leave this place for the tourists
Mary says
I was anxious to try a Sprinkles cupcake at Disney Springs but, sadly, was highly disappointed. I purchased the vanilla cupcake but it did not have any vanilla flavor but tasted like cornbread. It was dry an unappealing, so much that I returned it. The icing was no where near a buttercream consistency but was more cream cheese type icing. Again, not what I expected. I won’t be stopping by a Sprinkles cupcake store Again.
Heather says
Do you know if they accept DDP now or next year by any chance?
DFB Sarah says
Heather, so far, no, Sprinkles does not accept DDP.
