On a quick trip to the World of Disney Store in Disney Springs recently, I couldn’t help but notice these colorful signs with cute sayings, just a couple stops down from Amorette’s Patisserie in the Marketplace…
Curious, I snapped a few pics. And then, lo and behold, we heard at our Disney Springs media event today that The Polite Pig, “a new fast casual concept,” is on the way to Disney Springs!
To “bring in local flavor,” James and Julie Petrakis, the James Beard-nominated chef/owners of two popular Orlando-area restaurants (in Winter Park, FL, specifically) will open this new location in Spring 2017. Both The Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder are known for their emphasis on using seasonal ingredients, offering “the best seasonal foods that Florida has to offer” (quote sourced from The Ravenous Pig website).
Partnering with the James Beard Foundation-nominated chefs will be Brian Petrakis, who owns and operates popular Orlando eatery Greens & Grille. The partnership unites the Petrakis brothers on a restaurant venture for the first time.
During a recent media event, we even had the chance to chat with Chef Julie and Chef Brian, and they shared the preliminary menu with us!
They even had samples of their Boiled Peanut Hummus and Key Lime Pie on hand for the event. They were amazing!
Scheduled to open in spring 2017, The Polite Pig will feature a variety of wood-fired smoked and grilled items. The restaurant will also introduce an beverage program serving all drinks on tap, including Cask & Larder beer, wine, and cocktails.
The Polite Pig will be located in the Town Center neighborhood. The 5,000-square-foot venue will be open daily, with seating for about 200 guests.
My meals at The Ravenous Pig have been wonderful, and I can’t wait to see how they do farm-to-table as a counter service spot! Stay tuned!

I’ll be anxious to see the menu!

Cool….wait, 7 bucks for a root beer?
John says
Those prices are ridiculous. 7 bucks for a side or a soda. I won’t be eating there.

Please please stop putting the full page advert up that prevents anyone with an older iPhone from accessing your site. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve asked this….please??

$9 for a draft beer. No thanks. Adios!

Wow, prices! NO WAY. $7 for sodas “on tap”? The whole menu looks pretentious. I make garlic roasted (charred) broccoli ‘to die for’ at home that costs $5 at most as a generous side for 10 people easy. Give me a break. These Disney Springs restaurant are truly existing in an alternate reality from normal Americans. I could not justify these prices for full Table Service meals. And please don’t tell me they will only count as a Quick Service meal on the DDP. When that happens those of us not on the DDP wind up paying the costs of that decision!

When compared to other venues in Disney Springs, I find the pricing rather moderate for food. The beverages seem to be no different than the rest. Any restaurant on Disney property charges $9 for a beer.

Looks great! I took a look at the menu for The Ravenous Pig, and the prices at The Polite Pig are much more family friendly! The whole chicken is only $15 and it comes with 2 sides. I can see getting an entree and an extra side to split a meal. It sound delicious to me.

You might want to let them know that they misspelled “Pabst” as “Pasbst” on their menu….
