Here at the DFB, we love a good Disney food mash-up, but truth be told, even in our wildest dreams we never conjured up this one: Donut Nuggets.
We know, we know: they sound intriguing and delicious. (And maybe just a smidgen odd…)
The masters of American casual comfort food at D-Luxe Burger are the brainiacs behind this new creation, and since we are masters of, you know, eating donuts and nuggs, we had to get in on the action.
D-Luxe has quickly gone to the top of our favorite counter service burgers because — for once! — the burgers themselves aren’t overdone hockey pucks! We also enjoy the clever combinations of ingredients, like the Southern Burger with fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese (the caviar of the south, y’all!). Plus they have several dipping sauces, and that’s never a bad thing.
Atmosphere
The vibe at D-Luxe is totally down-home chill. Seriously, look at the decor.
You’ve got just about every texture ever used in interior design, plus handy papertowels on every table, which, well, you’re gonna need if you order up a juicy burg.
There’s also a toasty (if completely unnecessary in central Florida) fireplace to drive home the feeling of, well, home.
And if the weather is fine, find yourself a table outside. The lantern chandeliers are just awesome.
So now that you’re feelin’ comfy, it’s time for some grub. This time, we grabbed a kids’ menu item because with a name like Donut Nuggets, it’s got to be good, right?
Eats
The Kids’ Menu here is pretty small. There are two burgers in addition to these new nuggets. That’s it. Meals include a Danimals Smoothie (these are pretty much everywhere in the World now), carrot sticks, and a choice between milk and water. But diners can opt to sub in a soft drink and fries instead if they prefer.
We went with fries because we’re at D-Luxe Burger, and that’s what you do there. You eat fries. The Donut Nuggets are actually listed as Chicken Breast Nuggets, but we can’t resist calling them Donut Nuggets, so just get on board. 😉
The nuggets and fries are served in a handy box which pretty much necessitates using little cups for dipping sauces. But still, we like the box.
And while the box might seem diminutive, inside were twelve nuggets of various sizes (in addition to a huge serving of fries!). Some were full size nuggets, while others were more akin to popcorn chicken. Either way, though, twelve is a generous serving for a kids’ meal.
The breading is beautifully golden brown — and you can tell just by looking at them that they have great crunch. And in fact you can taste a little sweetness from the donut used in the breading. So the sweet/salty combo is really explosive here.
Inside is moist, plump chicken. Totally fantastic and juicy. We couldn’t stop eating these!
Nosh or Not?
You want to make a stop at D-Luxe Burger if:
- You really want a guaranteed great counter service burger!
- You’re in Disney Springs without an ADR for places like Homecomin’ or the BOATHOUSE.
- You have picky eaters in your group who just love simple, good grub.
You could skip D-Luxe Burger if:
- You really want to check out the table service options in Disney Springs.
- You’re not really a yummy burger/delicious French fries kind of person.
- You don’t plan on spending much time in Disney Springs and prefer to eat in the parks.
Overall
At $7.99, we totally loved these Donut Nuggets (okay, okay: Chicken Breast Nuggets) and would totally get them again. They are addicting and a decent value for the price when you think about the amount of nuggets and fries they piled in there. (We even think a couple of kids could probably split these and really stretch the dollar!) The bottom line is that D-Luxe is really consistently good, and we appreciate that!

Yummm, they sure sound good to me. I love fried foods, but only if they are crispy, crunchy and not greasy!
