The Main Street Plaza Ice Cream Parlor in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World seems like it might be on a quest to constantly out-do itself.
Because even with awesome treats like the Donut Sundae and the All-American Sundae, this favorite Main Street, U.S.A., ice cream spot just keeps hitting homeruns. This time, it’s an Apple Blossom Sundae, and we all need to make an immediate trip to the World so we can eat it.
Oh, yeah: and there’s Dulce de Leche Ice Cream to put on top. What, what?!
Let’s take a closer look. Basically you’ve got an apple pie as the base (although, if we’re getting technical, this is more of an apple galette, but it’s apples in a crust so we’re happy), and the pie is topped with a huge scoop of ice cream (your choice!). We went with that limited-time-only Dulce de Leche because yum!
There’s also caramel sauce, a massive dollop of whipped cream, a shiny red cherry, and two chocolate Mickey ears.
The pie is served warm, so the ice cream melts. The Florida sun helps it along, too. But it’s all good because #meltedicecreamandpiearewhatsup.
The combination here is fabulous — but if you go for traditional vanilla ice cream, we won’t stop you, because that would be outrageous as well.
Y’all, Apple Blossom Sundae. Go get one! But note that it’s not currently on the permanent menu, so we have no idea how long it will be around! Stay tuned!

Does the Dulce de Leche ice cream suffer from the same problem as the vanilla ice cream, namely ice crystals in the ice cream?
Rune says
There’s nothing like stepping into the coolness of the Plaza at the end of a long hot afternoon.
That sundae looks pretty good, although to be honest I’m not a fan of the hot + cold combo – putting ice cream on top of anything heated up – but each to his own I guess. =) It also kind of reminds me (1) of autumn, and (2) of the apple pie sundae you can get at the Fountain (Dolphin) where you can get soft serve (or hand scooped ice cream if you ask nicely) but alas, no Mickey ears!
