Greetings from Hollywood Studios! As Christmas winds down in the parks we found some changes in the park (Slinky Dog, where’s your tail?) as well as some new additions, and of course some new merchandise to welcome in 2019!
We’ll start this week’s tour out in Animation Courtyard where there’s a brand new Disney Junior Dance Party that is pretty fun!
New Disney Junior Dance Party in Hollywood Studios
Over the holidays a brand new Disney Junior Dance Party started in Animation Courtyard, and you and your kiddos get to dance along with some Disney Junior stars in a high-energy show. You’ll see Doc McStuffins, Vampirina, and Timon in the show, each with their own segment and specialty dance.
Throughout the show and between each segment the hosts of the show keep checking in with the Mickey Roadster Racers in the hopes they will make it to the party on time.
Spoiler Alert — Mickey and the Roadster Racers make it to the show for the finale!!
New Market Snack and Drink Stand in Hollywood Studios Animation Courtyard
Just in time for the busy holidays a brand new Market has opened in Animation Courtyard next door to the Joffrey’s Coffee and Tea stand on the way to the Toy Story Land entrance.
You’ll find spirited drinks, beers, soft drinks, water, non-alcoholic specialty drinks as well as Churros and Mickey Pretzels here.
Toy Story Land Updates — Where is Slinky Dog’s Tail?
Even though the Christmas decorations will be taken down this week we spotted some additions to the decorations in the area since our visit right before Christmas. There are new (giant) ornaments on Woody’s Toy Story Land Sign as well as some new garland.
After we navigated through the crowds — there were so many people in the park this week — we made our way to Slinky Dog Dash.
When we got to Slinky Dog Dash we noticed something was missing. Slinky’s tail has been removed from all of the cars on this popular attraction. We hear the tails have been removed for safety reasons, and they are expected to return in some fashion soon.
We noticed Buzz was in a new location for his Meet and Greet. His Meet and Greet was moved closer to the entrance into Toy Story Land, we think to avoid the Slinky Dog Dash ride line, which was so long it was all the way to where the Buzz Meet and Greet is normally. We don’t know if this is temporary because of the crowds, or a permanent move. As always, we’ll keep you updated on this.
Star Wars Updates: Galaxy’s Edge Progress and Addition to Tatooine Traders
Of course, no visit to Toy Story Land is complete without a peek over the wall to check on Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge progress (read more about Bob Iger’s — Disney’s CEO — interview about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge here).
The Star Wars store, Tatooine Traders completed an interior refurbishment last year, but just as that was finished, we were surprised with an addition outside the store. Here’s how it’s progressing.
New Merchandise in Hollywood Studios
OK, technically this is not merchandise, but it is something you can buy — for now. If you stop for a beer or cider at Baseline Tap House you can get it served in a (plastic) souvenir glass. These are only around for a limited time, so be sure to pop in and get yours soon!
There’s a new Mickey Through The Years collection that came out — just in time to celebrate Mickey’s 90th!
Look at this mug with all of the Mickeys on it from all of our favorite films and shows featuring the Main Mouse!
There’s a shirt to go with the mug that includes all of the variations of Mickey on it as well.
This collage collection is too much. Look at this carefully, we found references to Disneyland, Disney World, Tokyo Disney, Mickey, favorite attractions and so much more! It reminds me of the display in the Disneyland Hotel near the conference center!
Yep, we’re going to have to get both of these tops.
The collage merchandise is featured in some new storefront window displays.
We also noticed the style of Mickey and Minnie are the same style as the art for Hollywood Studio’s new 30th Anniversary logo, so maybe we’ll be seeing this display all year long as the park celebrates.
And, lastly, if you’re trying to catch Santa in these couple of days of Christmas celebrations in the park he is no longer here (we assume he is off on a beach relaxing), but you and your kiddos don’t need to be disappointed. Santa Goofy is sitting in for Santa in the Meet and Greet in the Once Upon a Time store on Sunset Boulevard.
Whew — that is everything new we spotted in the park this week. Be sure to follow us so you are kept up-to-date on all of our park visits and updates!
