There’s a lot going on in Epcot! World Showcase is getting ready for a new nighttime show after IllumiNations ends, Japan is welcoming a new table-service restaurant, France is adding a Ratatouille Ride and Beauty and the Beast attraction, and a Guardians of the Galaxy ride is coming to Future World. That means lots of construction, construction walls, scrims, and more around the park. We checked on the progress of all of these projects on our latest visit to the park.
With one of the more colorful construction walls in the park — the Guardians of the Galaxy ride is coming along with the conversion of the former Universe of Energy building into the queue building for the new ride.
Epcot Guardians of the Galaxy Ride Construction Update
The solar panels have been removed and you can see through the entire building now. It also looks like some of the panels or accents on the side of the building are being removed or changed.
Behind the trees you can see some of the immense building that will house the actual ride — that is going to have some pretty revolutionary ride vehicles when it opens in 2021!
We learned at IAAPA (International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions) that four Spaceship Earths could fit in this ride building! Almost all of the panels have been added to the outside of the ride building.
Epcot World Showcase Lagoon Construction Update
In World Showcase you’ll notice construction on the islands in the lagoon. We are guessing this is work to prepare for the new nighttime show coming to Epcot later this year “Celebrate Epcot.”
If you’re an IllumiNations fan, the Rose and Crown just announced a special dining package that includes Lagoon-front viewing of the show after a prix-fixe meal. Learn more about this special dining package here.
Epcot France Pavilion Ratatouille and Beauty and the Beast Construction Update
We’ve known for a while about the France Pavilion welcoming the Ratatouille ride from Disneyland Paris, but just learned recently at a D23 event about the Beauty and Beast Sing-Along attraction also opening here.
The Beauty and the Beast Sing-Along will debut “soon” according to Disney. Fans of the film Impressions de France in the pavilion don’t need to worry, the sign-along is being added to the pavilion, and not taking the place of the film. The Ratatouille ride, called Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, will open in 2021.
Epcot Japan Pavilion New Table Service Restaurant Construction Update
A new signature dining experience is coming to Japan! We don’t know much about this location yet, including an opening time frame. But we’ll keep you posted!
Just as in the France pavilion, this new location is in addition to the current dining options and locations in the Japan pavilion, nothing is being closed or replaced.
Which of these new rides, attractions, restaurants, or shows are you looking forward to the most in Epcot? Let us know in the comments below!

I particularly like little Remy from Rata2e so I’m very excited about that new attraction!
Dave says
Essie love the shorthand Rata2e! We plan on seeing Illuminations for our last time from Spice Road Table in a few weeks. 2021 gonna be EPCOT’s turn in spotlight. Additions are always better than replacements! I truly thought that for 2021 they would have included adding 2 more countries to the world showcase!

Any updates on the space themed restaurant?? That’s what I’m looking forward to the most! 🙂
